Just got back from a week of no internet - even the cell phone wouldn't work in that mountain cove, about two miles outside the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
Bliss, but I missed you folks. This is the first, but not, I think the last, essay to come from there.
WARNING FOR TIB and MVP: You may be disappointed to learn that - although we were out in Nature for a WHOLE WEEK - nobody got eaten by a bear. We even picked all the ticks off before they gave us a horrible disease.
Sigh. Dull, dull, dull...

So you're ticked off then
Ariel sounds a nice little fella. A few more lovely holidays like that and he might learn the way of the bear, and do it in the woods.
Not in the least bit dull dull dull!

Ariel also barks at the ocean. He is fearless - from a safe distance...
At least, he'd had *his* flea and tick medication. We had to hand-pick ours off.

This is a lovely, warm account and Ariel sounds adorable.
Back in the city don't you have to walk around with pooper scoopers, as dog owners do here?
One little crit- you say that dogs have been domesticated for 140,000 years twice.

Ariel is adorable. At the moment, he is begging for Braunschweiger from Elektra's sandwich.
We're not uptown enough for pooper-scoopers. We use plastic bags.
I said that about the domestication of dogs twice because I'd got off subject and wanted to get back to the information. Do you think it distracts? I'll go back and look at it, thanks.

Awwww .
When you say no wild dogs bark, you mean the specific barking at/warning noise dogs make? African wild dogs yip and whine. Book I have refers to them twittering - maybe shouting's what they've learned from humans .

Yes, that's what I meant, from what I've read. I suppose the behaviour came from something natural.
Shouting...I like that...Ariel often acts like that. Like the Vogon guard, he has some more bits of shouting to do somewhere.
Key: Complain about this post
