So that said:

It is not a specific service offered by a particular taxi firm but a general state of being of “some”, well quite a few, Italian males. So:

For some unknown reason there seem to be lots of short. bald, aging taxi drivers. (probably due to the very small cars produced during the post war decades)

Generally Italian males do rub their lower parts in public. This may be due to

The Italian version of “Touch Wood”.
For example: If you ever mention anything to do with bad luck or death, most males (and some females) will either make a horns sign with their right hand or touch their lower parts. – This is a national trait, there is even footage of Berlusconi doing it during parliamentary question time.

This tradition plus the need to feel more secure has led to Italian males doing this gesture even on public TV.. I must stress that It is NOT a sexual expression.

Looking creepily up and down:
As opposed to Anglo-Saxons who when caught looking at the fairer sex they quickly turn their heads away and start to whistle or looking at the sky. Italian men continue to look, think of it as their version of the “wolf whistle”. or saying “nice to meet you”.

Note: It only feels creepy if you are a foreigner and not used to it.


The home to lunch part is fairly true of most Italians, and if you have ever been witness to an Italian mother giving an earful to her son for being late after she has slaved over a hot stove for the past six hours preparing his lunch you would understand that even an offer of wild sex with a top model would need some careful thinking about given the consequences of being late.

I am embarrassed to say it, but Both,

There is a sort of satirical news programme on ‘canale 5’ called ‘striscia la notizia’ on which they show him doing both… the ‘lower parts clip’ only lasted a few seconds but as they showed it in a continuous loop with added sound effects it was quite funny…

It was part of a ‘series’ in which parliamentarians (from the left and the right) or as they said, from the slightly left and slightly right were caught doing various everyday things from picking your nose to adjusting one’s underwear…
