After my unhealthy experience with the law, it was good to read something like this. I hope you have more on the way.

Very funny as well as informative; looking foward to more!
I too have had 'experiences' with the law, good and bad. It is reassuring to know they are there for you when you need them.

*considering the value of hard earned pennies*
hmmm, what is the value of a penny?

1/650th of a minimum wage hour?

Thanks for the pointers on the article - it really can be quite tricky proof reading your own stuff. The piece is now amended and should make a little more grammatical sense.
As to the value of a Penny...
You'd have to ask my senior partner...

The value of a penny could be considered by the amount of time that it takes to earn one. At the current rate of $5.15 per hour minimum wage (USA) one penny would be the equivilant of seven seconds of labor. At higher wages that value would decrease eventually making it not worth a person's time to pick one of them up off of the ground.

Wow. I was making more than minimum at the hospital and I was still close to starving?

I still like pennies, it's just that there is nothing that I know of that can be purchased for one cent. As for the nickel and dime... can't think of any. Even the mighty quarter is growing a bit lame (it takes two to make a pay phone call!!)
Here's my idea: How bout once a month or so we have a day where it is reversed; pennies are worth a quarter, nickels are worth a dime, etc. I'm not sure what this would prove, but it would be fun!

How 'bout pricing everything evenly? Get rid of all the fiddley bits and eight places past the decimal point calculations. Make em' pay us in whole units of money every day, instead of when they feel like it, too.

GentletGarble Posted Jul 23, 2004
Are you suggesting that everything be the same price? I could agree with a decimalised cash system, but the quarter has got some clout. More 50 cent peices might be nice...
I agree that we should be paid every day, weather or not we do anything even resembling work. The working class is like the penny of modern society. The big quarter bosses expect us to do all the work, then complain when it comes time to pay up.
No matter though, I'm a freelance bum. I get my money the old fashoned way; I pick it up off the ground.
