Here, I assume you're German and read a lot. Someone told me about a kid's story: 'Venus unter dem Eis'. Tell me more about it, if you know....

No, fraid not. I just remember reading about it about 15 years ago. I just remember it had a penguin in it called Mupfel.

now I know. It's called Urmel aus dem Eis,by Max Kruse and belongs to the books I already read as a child
There are several books about the Urmel, the penguin, the sea-lion, professor Habakuk Tibatong and a few others. I loved them too
.All the animals had some difficulties with pronunciation, that's why one of them said Mupfel instead of Muschel
.If I recall it correctly, the Muschel was the home of Urmel, but it's really a very long time ago that I read it ( now I'm showing my age
)

I can't cause I'm in Germany, but I had a look on Amazon UK, there were two results ( though not in stock)
Urmal from the Ice Age , Hodder's Children's Books, ISBN 0340158271
and Urmal in Space, Hodder, ISBN 0340172053.
You could try Amazon used books, or Abebooks or even Ebay, hope this will help you
