Seconded.
Particularly since it turned out to be plagiarised, unless I'm much mistaken.
That's right, isn't it Waz?
Congratulations
LL Waz Posted Jan 25, 2005
Hey Pin, you've been mining deep these last few weeks.
Think you're confusing this one with 'almost true', which we caught before it got UG'ed.
Congratulations
Pinniped Posted Jan 25, 2005
Yeah, of course. Oops. In which case, unsecond it, until I go and actually read this one...
Deep? Well, I guess. There's still good stuff in the ice. There's a whole untapped second wave of interesting-but-flawed too, and much of that's still better than most of the new stuff.
You seen the husk of PR recently? Down to just five pages right now, and hardly any of it worth reading.
I don't know what more can be done, though. Some of Jimster's recent pronouncements, toeing the EG-hardline, makes me wonder whether Auntie's Bullet GW-fashion wouldn't be a mercy.
Congratulations
LL Waz Posted Jan 25, 2005
This one got UGed though didn't it? So still due a move I think.
The bullet being aimed at h2g2 you mean?
I don't go down the Peer these days. I'm one of those that think it's broke and does need mending.
AB and jwf know what should be done. So do I - they should be put in charge.
Congratulations
LL Waz Posted Jan 26, 2005
What, the move, the bullet or the revolt to instate AB and jwf ?
Typical of the seal to disappear down an ice hole leaving bullets poised in mid air.
I'm off too though, midnight's well gone here. Happy sweeping and prospecting spynxxx.
Congratulations
Pinniped Posted Jan 26, 2005
At least she didn't quite say that I disappeared up my own icehole.
So which AB would that be, Waz?
Some suggestions for those bullets : I could cheerfully suggest a few temples to discharge them into, but I seriously doubt whether there'd be too much by way of either blood or brains spread up the walls.
Too right I'm p*ssed off...
Pin
(Let's stop being nice, and save hootoo instead)
Congratulations
LL Waz Posted Jan 26, 2005
The Ancient Brit. He's right about DNA and splitting the DNA sites. It's divisive and limiting. It's also applying old media/marketing categories to a virtual community in which they don't apply.
I had a look at the Peer. Didn't hit me til I saw just five red dotes. How long's it been like that?
Congratulations
Pinniped Posted Jan 27, 2005
Oh, that AB.
You know who he is?
Just askin', you understand...
PR has been looking more and more like that for a while now.
Sending back to Entry is the new Crit, doncha know?
I sometimes feel a bit concerned about my Scouting habit. Jodan does it, which means it can't be much worse than slightly tragic behaviour, right? So I've concluded that it's my lively imagination that makes all the rest of them seem like zombies in anoraks or something.
Seriously. Do you think things are OK with hootoo? Is it really just me who's somehow become disillusioned?
Congratulations
Spynxxx Posted Jan 28, 2005
No, I think you're seeing 20/20 on the state of things. I think some are treating it as a job rather than a joy, which is a sad state to let things get to.
Why do you think I've been kicking in the doors, certainly not to win friends or favor. I looked in the magic mirror, back to the days when all was fresh and new, and laughter filled the air.
And then I compared that to what is the present. Lethargic and dull, the joy sucked out like a husk in a web.
But it is fixable, and it's the likes of you all that will be the salvation so needed. And if you didn't belive the same you'd already have been long gone.
Seriously and semi-seriously
LL Waz Posted Jan 28, 2005
There is a tendency in groups to take on a group identity (sheep like but not like). Strong influences are infectious. Have you caught yourself eyeing up anoraks recently Pin?
No it's not ok. The general atmosphere is not exactly sparkling and old timers huddle in corners. But yes still fixable. 'Tis the dead weight of the BBC which is trying to squash a large 3D vaguely sputnik shaped object through a 2D roughly tv screen shaped hole.
The joy is being sucked out. When the core purpose is ever more tightly ruled how can it be otherwise. Lack of EG submissions will bring things to a head I'd have thought, though I don't know what numbers are needed to maintain the Front Page.
h2g2 has a Producer now, did you know? How can you produce a community?
We ought to move this conversation, bumping this entry to the top of the AWW could get as annoying for the rest of the inhabitants as that John Leslie piece that keeps resurfacing.
As you asked Pin, AB is an undimmed spark
