Entry: Neverno - a fictional tale [probably] - A11577819
Author: midge tmogget, ship's cat, Artemis II, semi-militant thursdayite, Keeper of irrational fandoms. - U1685894

I've been writing this for a while, but thought I should finish it today. Please tell me what you read into it - I have at least 3 reasons for the title, and I can't remember which it was now.

What do I read into it – you mean over and above the straight story? I’m not sure. There could be an inner self/outer self idea going on here. But the relationship between Big and Little Jo is difficult to fit into that.

The very last line suggests one imprisonment simply swapped for another. Little Jo is still in a box of sorts. It’s a sad last line – is that what you intended?

The alternate voices, not actually communicating with each other is neat. That’s the bit interests most.
Thanks for the read smiley - smiley,

I wasn't sure how to show the two different voices. Normally when something is written like that, it's in two different fonts, but as far as I am aware, that's impossible here. I wasn't sure whether it would be obvious there were just two voices, or how different they sound.

I worked out what was going on when I got to 'It looked into my eyes, and I looked into its. She made noises – speech.'. That bit explained what I knew I wasn't understanding until then.

Different fonts are possible, as in A2213407, they're just not part of Standard Guide ML and as such the site doesn't guarantee that they'll continue to work.

I had a growing awareness of the differences between the two voices - I didn't hear a lot of difference in the first two sections though. The rhythm of speech is the same, similar short sentences - more of a difference there would be intriguing.

The difference is in the vocabulary and understanding of what's going on and later in the introspection from Little Jo.

The vocabulary and understanding are based on their upbringings. The simalarities are probably due to it's all Big Jo typing. I think Little is perhaps still learning to talk during this, so Big is haveing to make her ideas into coherent sentences to start with, but by the end, Little can just say exactly what she wants to say.

Or that's my excuse: I'm sticking to it. smiley - winkeye

I'll go look at them if I want to, the fact that you're coming and asking makes me less likely to look at them when I do drift towards smiley - thepost.

UnderGuide Editors

Hi midgetmogget, I'm here with smiley - bubbly to say the <./>underguide</.> miners picked 'Neverno' as one of their May selections and we'd like to give it a turn on h2g2's front page.

An UnderGuide Gem Polisher will be in touch for any polishing you or they might suggest or want before creating a UG copy of the entry. Then that copy will be featured on h2g2's Front Page for a one week.

Congratulations, it's a neat story, and a sad one as Chips said. Thank you for submitting it here smiley - smiley,
