You are the promised kiss of springtime
That makes the lonely winter seem long.
You are the breathless hush of evening
That trembles on the brink of a lovely song.
You are the angel glow that lights a star,
The dearest things I know are what you are.
Some day my happy arms will hold you,
And some day I'll know that moment divine,
When all the things you are, are mine!

Hope this beautiful lyric will make up for it:
I touch your hands
And my heart goes strong,
Like a pair of birds
That burst with song.
My eyes look down
At your lovely face,
And I hold a world
In my embrace.
Younger than springtime, are you
Softer than starlight, are you,
Warmer than winds of June,
Are the gentle lips you gave me.
Gayer than laughter, are you,
Sweeter than music, are you,
Angel and lover, heaven and earth,
Are you to me.
And when your youth
And joy invade my arms,
And fill my heart as now they do,
Then younger than springtime, am I,
Gayer than laughter, am I,
Angel and lover, heaven and earth,
Am I with you!

Makes me cry every time - well, almost

It's touch and go for me with that one - it's between that and 'Some Enchanted Evening' by Rossano - both bring a lump to the throat.
June is bustin' out all over
All over the meadow and the hill!
Buds're bustin' outa bushes
And the rompin' river pushes
Ev'ry little wheel that wheels beside the mill!
June is bustin' out all over
The feelin' is gettin' so intense,
That the young Virginia creepers
Hev been huggin' the bejeepers
Outa all the mornin' glories on the fence!
Because it's June...

Yes, LadyC - Some Enchanted Evening -
Back to business:
Once I was a sentimental thing;
Threw my heart away each spring.
Now a spring romance
Hasn't got a chance.
Promised my first dance to winter.
All I've got to show's a splinter
For my little fling.
Spring this year has got me feeling
Like a horse that never left the post.
I lie in my room
Staring up at the ceiling.
Spring can really hang you up the most.

A fine romance, with no kisses
A fine romance, my friend this is
We should be like a couple of hot tomatoes
But you're as cold as yesterday's mashed potatoes
A fine romance, you won't nestle
A fine romance, you won't wrestle
I might as well play bridge
With my old maid aunt
I haven't got a chance
This is a fine romance

Skylark
Have you anything to say to me?
Won't you tell me where my love can be?
Is there a meadow in the mist
Where someone's waiting to be kissed?
Oh skylark
Have you seen a valley green with spring?
Where my heart can go a journeying
Over the shadows and the rain
To a blossom covered lane?
{Hoagy Carmichael: Skylark]

Grwat song Jabs but I lost my way a bit with the last two lines of each verse. (Musically I mean)
Lullaby of Birdland
That's what I always hear when you sigh.
Never in my wordland
Could there be ways to reveal in a phrase how I feel.
Have you ever heard two turtle doves
Bill and coo when they love
That's the kind of magic
Music we make with our lips when we kiss.

LadyC: Skylark has a 5 line stanza instead of the conventional 4, so more difficult to 'read' the tune. The 5th line is very like a repetition of the 4th line though
Brahms' Lullaby
(without poetic embellishments, this is a direct translation of Brahms' lyrics from the German, so it doesn't quite fit, although it's still a good approximation to the tune)
Good evening, good night, covered with roses,
With tiny fingernails hidden, slipping under the blankets,
Tomorrow morning, if God wills, you will wake again.
Tomorrow morning, if God wills, you will wake again.
Good evening, good night, watched over by tiny angels,
Who show the little Christ Child's tree in dreams,
Sleep now, blessed and sweet, look at dream's paradise.
Sleep now, blessed and sweet, look at dream's paradise.
[Johannes Brahms: Lullaby]

Sacrilege I think - translating
Long time ago in Bethlehem,
So the Holy Bible say,
Mary's boy child, Jesus Christ,
Was born on Christmas day.
Hark, now hear the angels sing,
A new king born today,
And man will live forever more,
Because of Christmas Day.

I think those words for Brahms' Lullaby are veautiful. Anyway, LadyC, especially for you:
Guten Abend, gute Nacht, Mit Rosen bedacht,
Mit Naeglein besteckt, schlupf unter die Deck'
Morgen frueh, wenn Gott will, wirst du wieder geweckt
Morgen frueh, wenn Gott will, wirst du wieder geweckt
Guten Abend, gute Nacht, Von Englein bewacht
Die zeigen im Traum, dir Christkindleins Baum
Schlaf nun selig und suess, Schau im Traum's Paradies
Schlaf nun selig und suess, Schau im Traum's Paradies
(Words Trad. From Brahms' Lullaby, sometimes known as the Cradle Song)

Yes
Goodnight sweetheart
Til we meet tomorrow
Goodnight sweetheart
Sleep will vanish sorrow
Tears and parting may make us forlorn
But with the dawn a new day is born
Goodnight sweetheart
Though I'm not beside you
Goodnight sweetheart
Still my love will guide you
Dreams will enfold you
In each one I'll hold you
Goodnight sweetheart
Dreams will enfold you
In each one I'll hold you
Goodnight sweetheart goodnight
Not sure who the original was but I think it may have been someone called Guy Lombardo

Last saturday night I got married
Me and my wife settled down
But me and my wife have parted
Im gonna take another stroll downtown
Irene goodnight
Irene goodnight
Goodnight Irene, goodnight Irene
Ill get you in my dreams (was later bowdlerised into 'see')
Stop ramblin
Stop gamblin
Stayin out late at night
Go back home to your wife and child
And Sit by your fireside bright
Irene goodnight
Irene goodnight
Goodnight Irene, goodnight Irene
Ill get you in my dreams

Something for both of you I hope
Tonight, tonight,
Won't be just any night,
Tonight there will be no morning star.
Tonight, tonight, I'll see my love tonight.
And for us, stars will stop where they are.
Today
The minutes seem like hours,
The hours go so slowly,
And still the sky is light . . .
Oh moon, grow bright,
And make this endless day endless night!

And Something for the Weekend perhaps?
Come along and say you will,
Be the one to change the meaning
Of the writing on the wall
The lonely politician
is lying in the hall.
Come along and say you can,
Be the one to take this feeling,
I'll never understand,
Why walk around the center
With a nail through your hand?
It's another way to run,
It's a lonely weekend
And what have you done?
