Hmmm. I'm not doing the map to the East. Yet.
I will certainly do some sort of link from the Church. Exactly what sort is up to marie-rae and the others. You will certainly need help from a Higher Authority. Have you any idea what sort of work they have in mind for you?
Take plenty of vitamins!

Do you want the trees back?

Here's a little continuity problem

Just one of many presented by Joe on http://www.h2g2.com/U28269
Any ideas, BB?

Its not a continuity problem. Increase the size of the town and move the river out slightly to make a meander. The cliffs can be on the other side too with the woods being opposite the park or similar. A bridge is a usable structure. I reckon your map of the town should be bigger and divided into sections though. H2g2 is larger than that I'm sure.

Thanks for your suggestion. It is a good solution. h2g2 is indeed bigger than shown. This map is intended to show BB's waterworks only as a clickable map for his page. If I try to draw anything else I get into trouble.

Well... the park isn't supposed to be near Newton Square. Its meant to be on the edge of the civic/commercial district, the district that would be closest to the river mouth and as such, the harbour.

Newton Square?

The Law of Naming Fictious Places: Pick a famous surname and a description of the place.
Where the F&F is
Don't know the actual name

It's just called the Town Square according to the map.

Hmm... looking good, although the trees should definately be returned - they make the place look nice.
You can't have a map without trees - it would be sacrilege! The more trees the better. But yes, the map is looking good. If it is a draft, one thing that occured to me is that in a town it'll be more likely that the fountains are in the centre of the square and not the toilets - afterall, fountains look nicer - but the only changes I think need to be done are those - the trees and switching the things over.
BTW - is one of the reefs going to be the site of the Coral Reef Cafe?
Draft map
Amy the Ant - High Manzanilla of the Church of the Stuffed Olive Posted Aug 6, 2000
Then you shall have trees...
The toilets have to be handy for the F&F and the Aroma Café and the Fountain must be close to the swimming pool. I will do some adjustments and try to make the toilets look more attractive.
Is the square called Newton Square as suggested by Joe?
Can the Municipal Park be on the West side of the river? Would it help if I drew another footbridge from the uppermost river island to the opposite bank? Shall I move the Boat Yard access road closer to the river and put in a zebra crossing?
Where is the camping ground?
Would it be a problem if a tributary called the River Vavoom came in from the West?
Which reef would you or Fish like to be the Coral Reef Café?

Ok... The Woods are on the opposite side of the river to the park. The park runs through the town's commercial district much in the way as in Bournemouth, High Wycombe or with Hyde Park. The woods are large enough to support lost colonies of various species as well. They rise up a hill as they pass through the town so that by the time the river reaches its mouth they are on a cliff over the sea with the harbour at the base (they aren't that close to the river)
The cliff has a lift down to the beach so that has to be figured. See what I mean about the map being too small?

Time to build an extension.

Bluebottle Posted Aug 6, 2000
Firstly about the lift/beach problem - the beach is supposed to be 5 miles long and so will continue to run onto the maps to the east and west, so I guess the lift can be to the east & west too - near where the caves are.
I'll reply to the other points in a bit.
Any reef can be the Coral Reef Cafe.

Amy the Ant - High Manzanilla of the Church of the Stuffed Olive Posted Aug 6, 2000
Ah, yes, the caves. They trouble me too.
I think it's best to assume that the Municipal Park is to the East of the map (where there be dragons).
Oh, the other problem is reconciling the position of the Municipal Park and the Lift in relation to The Pond.

Bluebottle Posted Aug 6, 2000
The toilets would still be handy and about the same distance from the F&F and Aroma cafe and be near the pool from the bottom left corner of the square - so it won't contradict anything to swap them over with the fountain.
If you feel you should put in a footbridge, move the boat yard road and put in a zebra crossing - that's fine with me too. In fact, I like the idea of a zebra crossing
I don't know where the camping ground is. But no - there's no reason why there can't be a river Vavoom.

If I ever do the map to the North of this one I must remember that the Pond is the source of the River which must flow North for a bit and then double back on itself.

Version avec trees now published.
Municipal Park, Lift, Caves etc are now to the East where there are Cliffs. The Village de la Vavoom is to the West.

Ant Lady. Why do the caves trouble you. I take care of the caves. The caves are OK, I explore them, find things.
