No one ever cares about Eden, er, the Palouse.
*sniffles more*
PS. Leavenworth is some funny sh*t, has to be said. . A US McDonalds with a Bavarian theme is a sight to behold.

Also, it's Grand Coulee Dam. It's part of the name, not just all of us calling the thing big.
*has successfully avoided many a repeat field trip to the thing*

This has made leaps and bounds since you first brought it to PR, Gnomon! It's really shaping up
I have to agree with Mikey about the rain, though. If I weren't familiar with the area, her explanation would give me a better idea of what to expect as a visitor.
A couple of other last few details:
--Links to some outside sites aren't working, they appear to be prefixed with the bbc/dna URL. These links need to be fixed:
*Port Angeles and Fort Worden (Olympic Peninsula segment)
*Leavenworth, Ellnsburg, Lake Chelan, Wenatchee and Yakima (Central Washington segment)
--Eastern Washington mainly of a giant river basin >> seems to be missing something.
--There are edited guide links for Bing Crosby - A2866025 and Jimi Hendrix - A248744
--The 'Points of Interest' segment looks kind of tacked on, a lot of this information could be included where the locations are mentioned in other segments of the entry.

Thanks Miloso.
OK, I've used Mikey's rain paragraph instead of my own.
The links are fixed (there was a stray carriage return in most of them).
Links to Bing and Jimi added.
Points of Interest section disbanded and redistributed.
I think that's everybody's concerns addressed.

*cough* You could always mention that Pullman is home to Washington State University, which is Gary Larson's alma mater....
OK, I'll lay off the Pullman thing

Sorry, Nyss, but I can't list every little town in the State. This is meant to be an overview. But by all means write one yourself and we can put a link in this to it.
If everybody is happy, I declare that this entry is ready to be picked!

I've heard of wildlife reservations, but not nuclear reservations - is that supposed to be Hanford Nuclear Site?

Gnomon - time to move on Posted Dec 15, 2004
I think that's an acceptable use of the word "reservation": a tract of public land set aside for something.

Technically, if you're going to capitalize the name, it's the Hanford Site, according to the US Department of Energy.
Also, I just noticed this, "Southwest Washington - south of the Olympic Peninsula and the Puget Sound is a nondescript forested region with very little of interest."
Personally, having been on many drives through that area, that statement is totally uncharitable. I'm sure you could rephrase that to make it sound nicer

If you just say Hanford Site, people tend not to know what you're talking about. The Hanford should be capitalised regardless, but Hanford nuclear reservation would be acceptable.
Instead of "Southwest Washington - south of the Olympic Peninsula and the Puget Sound is a nondescript forested region with very little of interest," would
"Southwest Washington - south of the Olympic Peninsula and the Puget Sound, this is a region most people simply know as the empty stretch in the highway on drive between Seattle and Portland. Off the highway, there are plenty of places to appeal to the nature lovers - good hiking spots, beautiful wildflowers, and uncrowded campgrounds."
be considered ok?

Thanks, Mikey. I've used that and some of my own words to rewrite the section and one-line summary of Southwest Washington.

A few quick things --
Eastern Washington is only about half the state if you include everything up to the Cascades as Eastern -- using these smaller regions, it's more like a third or a quarter.
The second paragraph on Southwest Washington now starts with "t", which I'm thinking was meant to be "It"
I think the "interesting facts" bit would actually work better as part of the introduction -- after the first paragraph, and either before or after the "state facts".

OK, those sound reasonable. But it is 00:20 here, and I have work to do before I go to bed. I get up at 6:30, so I really don't have time at the moment. I'll try and sort it out tomorrow. I'm glad this is nearly finished.
