Very good entry.
The version I played as a child (in Berkshire), based on what was taught to me by my mother (from Nottinghamshire), has the same grid and similar rules to Sea Change's Californian version (I'm trying hard now to remember which grid the local school (Northants) has painted in its playground). So my first thought on reading the entry was along the lines of, that's not how WE used to play it. Perhaps you could say at the start that, as with most children's playground and street games, there are many regional variations? Rather than at the end, I mean.

Wow, I never realised there was that much to the game of hopscotch. When we played it, it never really had a winner or a loser, we just had to get to the end of the board and back, picking up our stone. The squares were set out like in the entry though.
I'm impressed, all the rules make sense to me even though I've never played it properly.

Hello? Did you think about the 'history' bit? If there is any truth to it it would be nice to include it, do you agree?

RL keeps intruding but I do agree with the history being interesting IF it is true. I haven't really got time to research that bit. Any help with references would be greatly appreciated.

Or simply google Hopscotch + Roman, you'll find a few hundred links. I think I even saw one of the said Roman ruins on some website, but I am not sure.
Bye.

Your Guide Entry has just been picked from Peer Review by one of our Scouts, and is now heading off into the Editorial Process, which ends with publication in the Edited Guide. We've therefore moved this Review Conversation out of Peer Review and to the entry itself.
If you'd like to know what happens now, check out the page on 'What Happens after your Entry has been Recommended?' at EditedGuide-Process. We hope this explains everything.
Thanks for contributing to the Edited Guide!
