I'm voting for Brighton Beach...only because Neil Simon is always a hit with collegey-type people. Or was it Neil Diamond...I forget.
Anyway - is this the Dead Grandparent scholarship you're going for, KM?

They're both Neil Simon.
Annnd... erm... no, I don't remember the name, but when I find the forms, I'll tell you.

In that case, I'd say it's the "Neil Simon Has An Issue With Dead Grandparents Memorial Fund For Starving Students".
It does sound like something I'd say, doesn't it?

Ah yes. That must be what it was.
(Nora was in fact talking about her dead father, but this is clearly a nonissue.)

My vote would be with the second (beach ), but alot depends on what style of delivery you're more comfortable with. The second is a bit more straight forward then the first , which I suspect would require a manic-depressive style to really work. I'm trying to think of a good source of monologs , maybe Richard Brautigan.

*Sits in the corner and practices shutting up*
*Fails*
Just...don't do anything that Sissy Spacek starred in, movie-wise! I beg of yoooooooou......
*Stuffs a sock into her mouth and resumes shutting upping*
Thanks everybody!

I've decided on You Ought to Be in Pictures.
I thank everyone for helping me out because I'm quite completely sure I'd still be staring at them and weighing their merits against each other otherwise.
The only question now is, What will my comic monologue be? And Am I going to get to do the scholarship audition at all? Oh, wait. THe only two questios now are, What will my comic monologue be, and Am I going to get to do the scholarship audition at all, and what's that thunkthunk noise just beyond my window? Urrrrgh. Amongst... amongst the only remaining questions are... oh, damn.
