Looks good and sounds like a great place. Hope they're prepared for the influx of tourists this entry will bring.

we should have a mini-meet there, it really is nice.
We usually stop for a drink, and sometimes soup or something, in the café in the department store on the main square. The café is on the ground floor and has picture windows so you can watch the world go by.
They do really good fresh-fruit milkshakes in there, and quite good smooties. And a "to-die-for" apple and nut flan thing. mmmmmmm (pah, I haven't got time to get there today before the shops close)

Invitation accepted!
Can't imagine why you don't want to be credited for this - looks like pretty good work to me...
One or two things to fix (or fight over ):
Intro 3rd line: (You can actually pass from the Netherlands into Germany simply by walking across a street in the town)? I don't suppose you know the name of the street?
Humble Beginnings 1st para 4th line: (The fertile land and abundant supply of water)?
Humble Beginnings 2nd para 3rd line: [it was]
Humble Beginnings 2nd para 4th line: (the name derives from)?
Humble Beginnings 4th para 5th line: (Sittard was liberated)?
Humble Beginnings 5th para 1st line: (made the town their base)?
Humble Beginnings 5th para 3rd line: [and when]
Things to See and Do 1st dot 1st line: (and was extended over time.)?
Things to See and Do 1st dot 2nd line: (and when a fire destroyed)?
Things to See and Do 2nd dot: [St Michael's is a Baroque]
Thursday Markets 3rd line: [paraphernalia]
Thursday Markets 4th line: (the stall-holders are very helpful)?
Thursday Markets last sentence: <but you have to be careful because some of the Pay & Display machines only take tokens which are hard to come by, but most of the car parks in the town have machines>
(but you have to be careful because some of the Pay & Display machines only take tokens, which are hard to come by - fortunately, most of the car parks in the town have machines)?
Thursday Markets last word: [euros]
Local Government 2nd line: [organisation]
Getting There last sentence:
(You can also cycle into Sittard if you like; cycling is a popular method of transportation in the Netherlands, so you won't be conspicuous if you cruise in - pannier in need of stocking and your buttocks a trifle [saddlesore].)?

Thanks Rudy
I've fixed up all those, except the name of the street, unfortunately it escapes me. Sho?

There is no real street where crossing will get you into Germany according to my maps. The best I can find is the *Aan Het Broek* and *Verlengde Broekweg*.
Limburgs een broek similar to a brook ? *Een broek* is dutch for trousers.
Verlengde Broekweg >> Extended brooklane
I find the street about 2 kilometers East- North- East of the city center.

"I've fixed up all those..." Weeel, not quite . I'll just explain why I queried the other stuff:
<<Intro 3rd line: (You can actually pass from the Netherlands into Germany simply by walking across a street in the town)?>> If you walk back & forth, you'll end up where you started...
<<Humble Beginnings 1st para 4th line: > Rich & fertile are synonymous.
<<Things to See and Do 1st dot 1st line: (was extended over time.)?>> You changed this to read 'and was extended to over time' - The 'to' isn't needed.
<<Thursday Markets last sentence: <but you have to be careful because some of the Pay & Display machines only take tokens which are hard to come by, but most of the car parks in the town have machines>> I think that, without a comma after 'tokens', it could be taken to mean that the machines only accept hard-to-come-by tokens, and have no interest at all in the easy-to-come-by ones...
<<Getting There last sentence: > I just think that there are an awful lot of 'in's in that sentence. And, 'in to' should be 'into'.

ok, when I drive from Heinsberg to Sittard you cross the border and drive down a fairly long-ish road which soon becomes lined by houses, before hitting Sittard proper (turn left at the traffic lights and go past Kwik-fit to get onto the main parking route)
If I go from here, I go through... mmmmm can't remember the last village. Anyhoo, from there you pretty much cross the border and end up in Sittard right away, but it's more of a residential area.
To be honest I'm only familiar with the town centre, but if I really think about it, the border doesn't run through the middle of town.
sorry, I should have thought about this before

Your Guide Entry has just been picked from Peer Review by one of our Scouts, and is now heading off into the Editorial Process, which ends with publication in the Edited Guide. We've therefore moved this Review Conversation out of Peer Review and to the entry itself.
If you'd like to know what happens now, check out the page on 'What Happens after your Entry has been Recommended?' at EditedGuide-Process. We hope this explains everything.
Thanks for contributing to the Edited Guide!

Oh! Thank you, but I hadn't finished...I hadn't dealt with RE's ammendments, SO - once a sub-editor comes along I do hope they read through the PR thread and make note of the changes suggested by RE and others. Oh and Sho, okay - I'll leave my name to it
