Nice one, Matt
I think you should leave your name on it, as it's significantly different from the original.
Really? They only play for 90 minutes here.

I'll fix that up, I went out shopping this afternoon, and guess what rattled around my head?
'oo, I really should change that, it sounds like they play every day of the week all afternoon...'
And, yes it is sad that I thought about an Entry while I was out...

Hi, nice Entry . I'd keep my name in if I were you - it's a completely different Entry now.
I found it a little confusing that the history section is basically divided in two - the first part in the first paragraphs of the Entry, and then the rest under the header 'Development of a Town'. Since the whole Entry isn't about the historical background, maybe you could move the historical material from the beginning under the aforementioned header? I can't remember right now what the House Style stipulates, but I at least instinctively read all text before the first header of any article as an introduction to the subject, and so was confused when there wasn't much of an introduction, but a jump to the history stuff right away.
community law > a community law/Community Law? (I'm not sure there's anything wrong with this, it just looked a bit funny )
>>a small border post being the only sign that Sittard is divided across two countries<<
If the town really is divided across two countries, I'd consider that interesting enough to be mentioned right at the beginning of the Entry. As it is now, the location comes as a bit of a surprise.

fantastico!
I love Sittard - I live very close to there, although I have lived closer.
At one point, I lived in a small village outside Heinsberg (Germany) and the bus to Heinsberg (10 minutes away) cost DM 3.40 which was the same as the 45 minute country ride into Sittard.
You might want to mention the Thursday market which is fantastic and the reason that I take 2 Thursday's off a year. It has the usual fruit and veg, bread and meat/fish stalls. But there are also the "thing" stalls - but especially it is a sewer's paradise: there is stall after stall of fabrics of every description (and to suit every purse, especially my tiny one) with some fantastic prints for kids that I have never seen anywhere else. There are also many "haberdashery" (does that word still get used?) stalls: I always get in a good supply of those hammer-in press studs which are a quarter of the price I pay here in Germany. It's also great for buttons of all kinds, zips and ribbons and bias binding. There are also fabric stalls for upholstery and curtains as well as dressmaking. Plus the stall owners all seem to be good at what they do: many a time they have made me buy a metre or half a metre less than I was asking for because it would be too much and "a waste"
The market is there on Saturday too (and possibly other days of the week?) but only for food and flowers. More's the pity.
Parking isn't too much of a problem - but you have to be careful because some of the pay & display machines only take tokens (and I've never found out where you get them) but most car parks have machines which take Euros too.
But my main reason for going there these days is to get Quorn from the supermarket - you can't get it here (that's useless for the entry, but I'm so excited to see somewhere, relatively obscure, that i know quite well!)
btw, you might want to mention that Jülich is in Germanland.
(oh yes, keep your name on it)

Thanks for all that info Sho! I'll get onto that as soon as I can
Aina - I see what you mean, I'll do some reshuffling after I've incorporated much of Sho's stuff and see how it reads then
Stay tuned, will post back again once I'm done

Right, I've overhauled this and added your info Sho (I've given you an Additional Research credit which will appear when this goes EG Hope that's okay? I'm happy adding you as a collaborator if you'd prefer )
Think it sits better introduction wise now too, thanks Aina

no need really - although I'm such an EG tart that I really don't mind - I only gave you personal opinion. (your version of the entry really is much better than the original) I deffo don't need to be added as a collaborator

btw - my loving tells me that Fortuna Sittard were in the top division of Dutch footie - it was strange to see posters advertising mighty teams like Ajax Amsterdam and PSV coming to our sleepy corner of the world.
