Sorry, but when you said
"In the case of H2G2 only the edited page is suitable for doing that." - I thought you believed the Subs name was on both copies - that is what *those* examples were for - to show that it's only the Approved copy - sorry if I misunderstood your point. 
On checking GuideML code & the page editor rejecting anything that isnt correct etc - that's wrong. I'd give examples but...
