One of the regular 'exercises' we do at the writing group to which I belong is to read a passage or two from a book to see if it can immediately inspire others in the group to produce a piece of writing. I brought in the book: "100 Things To Do Before You Die" a collection of (sometimes) humorous items. I read out three of them, two of which concerned "Tardigrades" and visiting Hiroshima - this story evolved from that exercise. You can find info about that book if you enter its ISBN (1861979258) into amazon.co.uk's book search.

Another great piece.
Nobody is going to get this one until the revelation in the end-piece : till then it will always read like two unconnected anecdotes.
If you're looking for crit, I think you could improve the coherence in either of two ways :
1. Work at bringing in the Tardigrade definition near the beginning somewhow
2. Make the first part and in particular the inoculation by the little bears briefer and punchier.
Thanks for posting it. Sounds like you belong to a group.
