If it's almost true, you could make it true and submit it to PeerReview smiley - smiley

The Noble Robot

It's based on my cousin Joe, who could very well have done all of the things in the entry, except that he hasn't.

Oh, ok... I was going to suggest to move it into PeerReview as well, as I thought it non-fiction. smiley - winkeye

I find it well done smiley - ok, though mabe the changeover from the description of his painting techniques to the sentence "The show was held in the lobby and ajoining bathrooms of the La Buvette ..." was a bit sudden to my taste. Perhaps an additional sentence like "in 19.. his works were displayed to the public for the first time"?

This is a wierd one. It is close enough to being 'straight' that a quick perusal will leave most readers with the impression that it is a factual entry about an obscure and rather 'eccentric' American artist. Strangers things happen!

If you read the text more closely, there are elements that tip the wink, though.

For my money, it hasn't got enough true 'laugh out loud' gags or comedy moments in there to be a really effective, funny spoof. But at the same time, the very fact that it is realistic enough to 'fool' an unwary reader demonstrates that it has got the right atmosphere to resemble the subject it seeks to parody.

Noble Robot? Any thoughts of working on this?

Noble Robot seems to be Elvised which is a shame.

Funny? Yes, definitely. The only thing it lacks to me is a reason for being, a punchline of some sort. It would make a good 1st of April entry.
