This game is called outsmart.
It is a game where someone gives a question and the next person to reply gives an answer and in turn gives a question. As you may have guessed, there are rules.
1- Strictly no wikiing
2- A reply given after 1 day is regarded as irrational
3- Failure to have an answer for a question will result in a new question
4- Questions about physics and astronomy only
Thank You So get cracking!

I will kick off- What is bigger, h (the planck constant) or the mass of an electron?

Sorry, but I don't understand rule 2. Could you explain, please?

no 2 states that your reply is not counted if it is over 24 hours ago.
Thanks for asking.smiley - smiley

They don't have the same units so can't be directly compared. In natural units they are both unity. Though I imagine you wanted me to say that planks constant is smaller.

This is like saying "which is bigger, the mass of Saturn or the distance from the earth to the sun?". So the answer is that the question is meaningless.

Question in return, then. Was the question in post 1:

(a) deliberately badly phrased a trick question
(b) accidentally badly phrased because the questioner didn't supply enough information (e.g. you COULD have asked "Which has the larger negative exponent when expressed in SI units?". But you didn't.)
OR
(c) wrong because the person asking the question doesn't understand enough physics to know that it's meaningless.

You're right Tiggy, I meant to say the charge of an electron. I guess that it is my fault, sorry guys.
Anyway, I forgot the units to. I want them to be in electronvolts. Sorry for the inconvenience.smiley - ok

The charge of electrons in electronvolts. Are you absolutely sure you want to ask that?

Still can't compare it to plank's constant.

So ..
"Which is bigger, h (the planck constant) or the charge of an electron? Both should be measured in eV ..

Sorry .. I don't know smiley - smiley
Anyone? No cheating!

Robb, you appear not be following your own rules.

You asked the first question. I gave the correct answer.

In return, I asked the second question. You've not (explicitly) answered it. What you've posted seems to imply that your answer to my question is (c). Please give you answer as (a), (b) or (c). I'm trying to make it easy for you by giving you multiple choice questions, but you seem not to understand how to answer one of those.

Remember, you are not allowed to check wikipedia, and you must answer within 24 hours.

Oh yes, and to revisit your rule-breaking rephrase of your original question: you want to compare the Planck constant with the CHARGE on the electron?

So, to return to my analogy, what you're saying is:
"Which is bigger, the mass of Saturn or the distance of the earth from the Sun?... Oh, my mistake, sorry, those aren't in consistent units, what I MEANT to say which is bigger, the mass of Saturn or the length of an Earth day."

All you seem to be doing is repeatedly demonstrating that you don't even understand your own question, much less the one I've asked in return.

So, pop quiz, let's see if you can get this:

What is the difference between CHARGE and ENERGY?

Note, just to save time:

In the absence of a meaningful reply to my posts above, I shall unsubscribe. It is pointless and unkind to engage in a battle of wits with someone who is so clearly unarmed.

Sorry, but I'm still not understanding rule 2.

Do you mean that any answer given over 24 hours after a question is set is ignored? That seems a bit harsh. I can take days for people to respond to anything around here.

Or do you mean at any post which is over 24 hours old can be ignored? If that is the case the we can ignore your opening post in about 4 hours, and make up our own game.

Please clarify.

I don't really get the meaning of 'smart' here.

Being smart isn't the ability to know a fundamental constant. That's called having recall.

The ability to use it/apply it correctly and to understand where it came from - now that's smart.

The ability to come up with it in the first place from thought, research and experimentation is genius.

Look, why is everyone all of a sudden against me?
Ok now ignore this forum. Just go. I can't do anything without being reviewed by cocky arrogant people who need to have a dictionary in their hands to define the word FUN.
This excludes you warner and geggs, you aren't being like the rest, I think that you are probably one of the few normal ones around here, so I'm unsibscribing and you can all create your own little questions with your 'superior' minds while I sit back and enjoy myself.

"now ignore this forum"

I think we can safely consign the OP to the "outsmarted" column.
