Actually, the "Badges..." quote IS from the Treasure of the Sierra Madres, originally. It was easily the most famous line from that movie, and oft quoted, so Mel borrowed it for Blazing Saddles as a way of pulling in a humorous cultural reference. It's similar to the way lines such as "If you build it, he will come," and "Luke, I am your father," have been quoted and spoofed over and over again since they were originally said.
Just wanted the good folks who guessed the Treasure of the Sierra Madres to get credit for getting it right, even if it wasn't the exact film what mrs the wife had in mind.
