I'm very tempted to quote the Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band's 'Kama Sutra':

In Position 72
You were me and I was you

But I'll refrain, as it's a song, not poetry.

On with the game...

Let me confess that we two must be twain,
Although our undivided loves are one

I shall gather myself into my self again,
I shall take my scattered selves and make them one.
I shall fuse them into a polished crystal ball
Where I can see the moon and the flashing sun.

Shadows of the world appear.

Oh well, I'll get something right eventually (the law of probablity states it)

I think this *might* be appropriate (I'm not making any promises) - I think if I stuff up one more time you may politely ask me to leave and I will do so willingly - my knowledge of poetry isn't extensive enough for this friend (don't worry, Jabberwock, it's not your fault smiley - cheerup)

Anyway, here goes nothing (literally)

UNTITLED

A blank page.
Void of all ideas and imagination
How can something be
Original

My thoughts wander.
Like a river over strange land
Or an explorer with no distinct
Aim

My mother speaks.
"Do not fret" She says
"Let thoughts come to you and
Relax"

Ten days later.
There's still no ideas
And poetry consumes my entire
Being

Hi Nick, that's an excellent poem, but it still doesn't fit. You're very welcome here, by the way. The key ingredients are that any contribution should be a poem/part of a poem and must relate to the previous one posted.

Take Post 231 - kissing
Followed up by 232 - kissing
Now you correctly followed these up with 233 - kissing, only it wasn't a poem. it was a song lyric. That was all that was wrong with it.

Relate doesn't mean it has to be identical, of course. Kissing could be followed by something about hugging or loving (e.g. Wild Nights! 235) or whatever relates.

Poetry that has been published should be 2-3-ish lines, and original poetry can theoretically be any length, but we ask in general that you keep it short if you can.

I hope this makes sense. If not, ask away, and I'll have another go at making myself clear.

So the next one should relate to 244 (selfhood, withdrawal or something similar - see 243 also for a clue).

Thanks Jab, I'm trying (Very trying). So what post should I relate a new poem to - something on shadows? Can I do the poem by Benjamin Zephaniah called 'Neighbours' about stereotypes (Not directly related, though)

Well, short of that, I'll make uup my own - may be too short to be considered a poes, though... smiley - erm

Being alone seems to be the dominant theme of the last two poems, Nick.
There's nothing in the rules that says yoiu can't Google if you want to! smiley - winkeye

Or I'm sure you could write an interesting line or two on the subject.

We find our luck as we strike gold,
at least we are not Middle of the Road.
We will not have to sing with Men Down Under,
for they are first to cast asunder.

Lil, that doesn't relate to loneliness! Again it's a fine poem, but look at the advice I gave Nick. You too are *very* welcome to the thread, in fact I was thinking about you today and how we'd missed you. But it's not a 'post any poem' game, it's a conversation, with each post relating to theme or mood of the previous one. That applies to original poems too. You'll confuse the boy!

It's a good job I'm up late, or who knows what you'd get up to! smiley - winkeye

Thanks Jab for the kind words. I think I'll keep lurking until I find something I know I can relate to and then express a poem on it, whether it be someone else's or an original, but " 'til we meet again..."

That's not a bad plan, Nick, now you've got an idea of the rules. I'll try to come up with something to help out (provided nobody beats me to it.

(Four lines = (2-3 ish)

She only said 'my life is dreary,
He cometh not,' she said,
She said 'I am aweary, aweary,
I would that I were dead!'

[Tennyson: Mariana]

A number of possible themes here for the next one. Loneliness, lost love, unrequited love, waiting, despair, death, suicide, even tiredness...(only have to choose one)

Normally I'd avoid two poems in a row by the same poet, but I wanted to help out.
