...and I also have a cassette with a pianist accompanying, which makes it even more enjoyable to play.

Lil, they are - and the thoughtfulness is at least half the joy
Satie's Gymnopedies - wonder if John Williams and his cohorts in Sky didn't do one of these? * off to dig out music in the collection*

And now for something completely different! Customer reviews strikes again with this book, How to Avoid Huge Ships:

That's what one of the reviewers said. "I'm a submarine," he said. "I can just sail under huge ships."

This has led me to another product, the Hutzler 571 banana slicer. When a product costs less than $4 but has more than 4,600 reviews, you know something's going on. One reviewer wanted to know what was wrong with the first 570 models of the product. Another complained that the slicer curves from right to left and all his bananas curve the other way.

Why on earth get one more single purpouse (porpoise? Damn forrin lingo) tool for your kitchen. I have way too many already...

Alton Brown (famous tv food scientist) likes to say that the only single purpose item in the kitchen should be the fire extinguisher.

But he forgot the spong.
Today it's books by Dennis Lehane for $1.99 each on amazon. He wrote Mystic River and Shutter Island, and his Kenzie and Gennaro series is superb. Good stuff to stock up on.

I'm back in the new house after a few days away over Christmas. It was a chilly 10.4 v when we arrived. Stuck the heating on for a couple of hours and last time I looked it was up to a more acceptable 19.4 c
Still have to open presents from S and the in-laws not sure where we will put it all!

I have long been a proponent of avoiding large ships, at least since that time I cut across the bow of a tanker leaving Tampa Bay at 2 o'clock in the morning. If you can bear u-tube this is a fun clip http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=brNX4xqlXJE I'm not sure what language to captions are, but the voice is English, or at least American. There is no evidence that this actually happened but never let the truth get in the way of a good story.
I may have to look and find out what the book is about, but I'm not buying a copy

I have a multi-purpose tool that serves as a banana slicer. It's called a knife.
Mind you, I remember my parents having an egg slicer, which I kind of miss because boiled eggs can be a sod to slice.
Merry Christmas and I hope you all scored some decent loot off .

I think I've seen the video before, but it's still funny!
As a scout, I know how to slice a banana *before it's peeled - well, it's the kind of stuff we learnt where *I was a scout...
Personally, I use egg slicers a lot, both ways.

Well, I could tell you that I have, after months of procrastination, bought tickets to visit Lanzababy - on Lanzarote. And also go to Madrid, for just a little bit.
