Hi and welcome to h2g2.
I'm Captain Kebab and I'm an ACE, or Assistant Community Editor, which means I've volunteered to help greet new researchers and try to make them feel at home here on h2g2. Glad you made it!
I've put together a page with some h2g2 links that you might find useful - you can get there by clicking this link: A794991. If you'd like to know any more or just want to talk you can click on the 'reply' button you'll see at the bottom of the page and I'll get back to you, or click on my name at the top and you'll find yourself at my personal space. You can leave a message for me there by clicking on 'discuss this entry'.
I hope to see you around soon...

I've found you!!!
I have just e-mailed your ace Kebab. *Captain* *K* - if you read this there is no need to reply to my missive.
Well, I should be catching the last of the summer sun - but have been seduce by the MB.
You are quite right to say how do we all find time to play on our computers - we steal said time from work and our loved ones! No excuses - it's a lot of fun - and my nearest and dearest are tearing their hair out over it!
So, I'm off to enjoy some quality time with my book in the garden - I'll check in later.
Sarah, (Scarlet Whore, Chelsea Girl slut thingy...)

Hello Jean
Nice to see you here. We are a small but growing band of lunatics, wandering between MC-H and h2g2. I see you are having a spot of bother getting a game going over on the MC board. I find the best thing to do is to start a thread (a "discussion") on a particular type of MC game. Say Mornington Crescent chess or MC poetry. It usually gets the game going.
On the subject of "smileys". There is a whole page with dozens of them. Every smiley has a code, for example for a big grin smiley all you do is put biggrin with < and > round it. I found that if you the big grin smiley in and then click on it, it brings up the smiley page and you can change it for whatever you want, so you don't need to remember all of them. Does that make sense?

Hello Peter
Goodness. There is so much going on isn't there, and I am supposed to be working. I have to dash, but I will write back to you later.

Jean,
I hope all is well with you - no sign of you on the board - there is a metro MC thing going on - but - a proper game, and that's what you were after...

Hello Chelsea. Everything is fine -- I've been on Mornington Crescent just now.
I can only really use the computer in the office during lunch, and I am not keen to use it at home at the moment because of the situation with my ex and my present partner. THAT is rather complicated . I'll get a new email address soon and maybe then I can tell you more about it.
I have just noticed that the smiley things are at the bottom of the message screen. Easy!

Good to hear things are OK-ish!
I quess you know that my add. is at the bottom of the QQ conversation on my page - should you ...
I think most of us are sympathetic and friendly souls - all with varying reasons for spending so much time on the MBs - but that IS the point - we all seem to have some common ground!
Hope all goes well as it can,
The Scarlet Chelsea Girl

Jean O'Connell Posted Sep 18, 2002
Hello Chelsea. I have followed Peter's advice and started a new thread in Mornington Crescent. I hope you will help me out.
Reference your last message; things are better than OK-ish. My ex is wriggling with mortification, and my partner is wriggling too, but for a nicer reason. We have talked it over and she(!) will not mind if I tell you more. I would rather not use email as I use the same address at home and at the office. Is there anywhere else that we can chat?
I hope you are not too shocked, many people still are these days, but I did warn you that my 'reputation' is for real.

Jean,
Greetings Jean from the Scarlet ,
I am not shocked in the least - must have been tricky times for you and both partners! I also think you will probably find that there is no one who is shocked on the MC board.
Only suggestion I can make is that you start another e-mail account - there are some people on these boards with half a ton of them!
I am with Yahoo, but you could use hotmail or...there must be loads... you just go to their site and login or on or whatever.
I've had a busy day - market day here - and my brother came to see me - which is why I have not assisted you on your thread - but I have posted something now.
I better return to see if we have moved on from Shepherds Bush !
Bye S

Hi Jean
Peter here! Sorry to listen in on your conversation, but I expect you've noticed that every time there is a posting on any thread you've been involved with (ie here), it gets flagged up on Your Space. So here I am!
As usual I agree with Sarah. Nothing in the slightest to be worried about. We are a broad church here and , as I've said to Sarah, appear in the main to be a compassionate, understanding crowd. You're amongst friends.
I've got two email accounts myself (ntl and yahoo) and provision for several more.
If you need any help. Just give me a call!
