Okay, on the extremely conceited (and unlikely)notion that someone actually visits this page.... I have a question.
Are HTML references such as only successful on user pages, or is there some trick to adding them to journal entries and forum postings?
TIA

Sorry, they seem to only work on user pages...although one researcher managed to get a "blue fish" up on a forum reply. He won't tell us how he did it.
Incedentally' it's my opinion that journal entrys make for some of the best reading. They can't be edited and they spring from the researchers mind at a moments' notice. Much less "plastic" and much more revealing than the user pages!

Wow! Someone -does- visit!!
Thanks for the info. I did notice that someone's forum posting had the icon on it, too.. but when I went back to look for it I'd lost the page somewhere. I'm sure there's a way, but it could be limited to the H2G2 team?

Visiting pages is the most fun thing to do here! Amazing the folks you'll meet!
I have a feeling there are a lot of things we could do if the Powers That Be would only tell us how......but then that might take some of the fun out of it!

Yeah.. And I'm assuming (gadz I hate that word ) that the only way to put images on a page is through tags?

Assume...Makes an a** out of u and me!
Yep. As far as I know, it's the only way. The HTML is fun around here. Saw it refered to as h2g2ML. I think that's an accurate discription. If it works here, it doesn't work anywhere else on the internet. If it works anywhere else, there's not a "snowballs' chance in he**" that it will work here! Makes for a "learning experience" I suppose!

Heh heh.. Yeah.. And though the automation is nice to a point (at least for most things you don't have to -remember- the odd coding ), it's not always a 'good' thing, as I've just recently re-discovered.

People visit your page, don't worry about that! It looks like fairly strange answered the question, but I was just giving that ego boost, y'know how it is

Heh, more people visit than u think... Just to confirm, HTML can't be used on forums, and the bluefish that fairly stranged mentioned earlier can only be put there by Shim, and he's a H2G2 employee, so that's how he does it. The 'bozo' smiley was supposed to be done but the H2G2 staff havn't added it to the converter yet, and probably won't for a while. They have mentioned that more smiley's will be added soon though...

Aha! Yeah, I tried , :P , :-p , :p , :-X , :-x , and probably some others to no avail. Didn't try ~ yet, but that would be a good one too, IMHO.
