I think it would be neat to have an entry on this topic, however I'm not sure how far away it is from being complete and at present I haven't the time to go through the thread properly.
Can anyone advise?

Hello again
I apologise for the procrastination. I am still working on it & I hope to get the final edit done some time soon.
The first problem is that of condensing my ideas into a logical form. This is about there, but it is partly on paper & partly in MS Word files.
The next question is: how can I transcribe this into a form I can type into your query box? Since the present version contains lots of special characters, I shall have to convert these into the available character set. Should I learn GuideML? When I tried this earlier, I found it rather trying, as it seems that every special character has to be represented by a code string. Does anyone know a way round this? What I really want is a mechanical method of converting a MS Word document to GuideML (preserving special characters, of course).
Thanks for your patience. Not long now, I hope.
Dry.

Choose "save as HTML" in Word, edit that file and delete the stuff before and after , stick at the front and at the end and put that file in the GuideML box.

Many thanks, Dogster (& not for the first time, I think.) That's encouraging! I shall try it as soon as I have more time. (Long past my bed time now, unfortunately!)

Probably not! As the author is still working on it ... we'll have to see how this one pans out. If it's going to take an absolute age, it might be better to take it out and put it back when the work has been done.

I for once disagree. The thread is long and complicated, so if this gets resubmitted to PR I fear there may be a lot of duplication of ideas across the two PR threads.
Secondly I seriously believe that the researcher is merely out of the office on an extended lunch break, and will be back shortly to finish this off.
Thirdly, I find it strangely comforting that this entry is still in Peer Review after 16 months. It sort of feels like a faithful old hanging around, it's become part of the furniture...

I agree with GreyDesk -- this is an author who has a history of disappearing for a few weeks/months and then coming back and participating actively in the thread again. Personally, I will be ecstatic the day this entry is finally EG ready -- I see it every time I do that reverse sort on date of entry.

I think it would be good to remove this one to the Entry. A restart in PR is sometimes good. Also, if any author puts something into PR he should be around, at least bop a note or something. All of us who put stuff into PR know about this. Something similar happended to one of my Entries in PR when I had elvissed for a while. I wouldn't have whined if it had been removed.

If it were me, I'd be even happier if when I returned from my extended lunch break, I found that this was still here waiting for me

It *IS* nicer, and you'd *BE* happier (so would I). That's not the point. You and I, and anyone submitting his stuff to PR, know the rules. I wouldn't be SAD if my Entry was removed while I am gone. And 6 months is a bit more than a extended lunch break.
