Welcome to the wonderful world of h2g2 . My name is Nigel and I am an <./>ACE</.> (Assistant Community Editor). This is not an automated message, I’am a real-life person sending you a friendly welcome .
H2g2 has lots of information on the ‘living breathing guide to life, the universe and everything’, started by the famous ‘Douglas Adams’ (click A157349 for more info) many light years ago. There is also lots of friendly community chat which is worth joining in .
The best place to start is <./>FrontPage</.>, (there is also a link to it from your space) which has a wealth of information including <./>ThePost</.> which is h2g2’s fortnightly newspaper, a recommended read .
Enjoy looking around and do not be afraid to click on anything, it is the best way to learn . It is daunting to begin with, but , you will soon get used to h2g2 and find your way around. A useful link is A719840 which has lots more useful information.
Another good place to visit is A8468742 which does what it says in the title ‘h2g2 in a nutshell’.
If you click U6250245, it will direct you to my space. Here, you will find information about your <./>ACE</.> (Me!) and other useful tips and advice for newbies (You!).
Remember I am here to help!. Ask any questions by clicking on the reply button and write away. If you fancy just a chat , do the same, I will get back to you shortly .
A word of 'Warning'. h2g2 is very addictive .
Look forward to hearing from you soon.

Hi Youngsuper_Nigel, thanks for the welcome.
I've had fun lurking round the forum yesterday, and couldn't resist a couple of quick posts, so I'm an ex-Lurker now.
I must confess ... there's something awful that I get up to that sets me apart from many people - I actually read the instructions _before_ I poke the buttons! I know it's not the right way, but it helps delay the inevitable damage in being a Unix system administrator . Now please don't tell anyone else that, or they'll try to give me work to do.
So expect me to wander round, apparently aimlessly, browsing everything I can find before I pounce.
Thanks for looking after things - we need more humans like you in this computery place.

Hi RecycleMe,
Thanks for your friendly reply . I also read instructions before doing anything, it is surprising what useful tips there are . I must admit though, I never used to be like that. It is only in the past couple of years that I discovered by reading instructions, even if it is a page at a time, saves a lot of time sorting out the problems I encountered by not reading .
Hoo-too (common language for h2g2), is a huge interesting place which can look a bit on the scary side at first but, like everything gets easier as you find your way around.
All the best and remember, any help you need don't be afraid to ask.
Nigel
