Moving is a crushing bore....
Matholwch - Brythonic Tribal Polytheist Started conversation Sep 29, 2003
Hi all,
Well I'm back, a week later than expected but vitae interruptus etc.
The move went swimmingly until I managed to bring the tail lift of the hired van down on my left foot. Result = a week off work with four crushed toes, and the move slowed down to a crawl, literally.
Other than that the new house is excellent, and the opportunity for a thorough life laundry was not missed. We filled the equivalent of two full-sized skips with detritus. Much of it went to the Red Cross (clothes, baby things, old paperbacks etc).
The house is still full of boxes though and I've had to board the loft to create storage space, but hey we're collectors, in-house recyclers .
Here's hoping you all had a great time without me. You'll forgive me if I don't spend this week reading backlogs, but just get on with matters at hand .
Blessings,
Matholwch /|\.

hi Math,
Oh, poor you! When I saw you 'hobbling' on the God thread I just assumed it was your dodgy knee.
Also, you answered my question about being unpacked.
Where is the new house?

Hi Az
Answer: About a mile from the old one, but across the main North-South road in Wales and a Railway track.

My experience of (North) Wales is that the vast majority of the roads run East-West. Going in a North-South direction is difficult, IME!

Having moved into my new student accommodation - ON CAMPUS!!! - I sympathise with you. I found the simple relocation of three items of luggage highly traumatic, thus refuelling my efforts to develop a cheap form of teleportation, hopefully in time for mum's Big Move some time later this year...
So, come on - tell us about your new house!

Jordan,
Hi stranger! Nice to see you again. I would also like to hear more about Math's new abode.

Hi Jordan
Excellent to see you back!!!!
My new house is just a simple three-bedroomed end of terrace. But it is is ours, all ours! Being in Wales of course it was less than £60k (that's it all you saesnegs weep away, haha!).
Anyhoo Jordan, more important than my little move, where have you been, how are you, are you back to stay, what have you been up to? Huh? Huh?
Bright Blessings,
Matholwch /|\.

Hi Math! Hi Az!
Sorry for being away for so long... Well, it's nothing big - I don't have a computer at home, and I couldn't get online much over the holidays! I would have went to the library, but I... erm, lost some books... well, I didn't dare until I found them again. Librarians have their ways of making you talk, as anyone quizzing them on ancient torture techniques will soon discover.
Also, I've been looking for a job, but after applying for about twenty and not even getting a response, I concluded that Blackpool hates me. Hopefully I can get a term-time job though and next year I can go on a long-anticipated trip to Canada!!!
I have to go now for my lecture, but I should be back online before long...

hi Jordan,
If you want any info about Canada, then ask me. Since I am Canadian. Where is it you want to go? If it is Toronto then I can suggest many things to you and find people there to give you lots of info. I have some people staying in my flat next door from Victoria, BC who could also help with info.
My friend in Toronto often rents out a room in her house, if that helps. And it is a wonderful house, with wonderful people.
Anyhow, ask me anything about a trip to Canada and I will help you any way I can.

Hello,
Since this seems to be the thread for people who've been absent, I thought I'd say hi.
Jordan, glad to see you back!
Math, was it the foot on the same leg as your dodgy knee?
Bod

Wow!
You lived in Toronto? That's exactly where I was wanting to go! I'm hoping to go with one of my friends some time in late summer, when I guess things will still be reasonably warm, there'll be less tourists and I've had time to earn some spondulas.
Thanks so much for offerring to help! I'll know better about next year, when I can establish my financial situation, but if so I'll be certain to take you up on that offer!
Now, I can inform my tutor-person I don't need to talk to him, so that he can have the rest of the day off.

Hi Della & Bod!
I haven't seen you for a while, Bod! I think you had something of a sabbatical too just before I left?
Della, you'll be among the first to know if I get it sussed. I hope it'll replace the sodastream maker as the 'must-have' gadget for the modern household.
[What do you mean, no one has a sodastream any more?! ]

Hi Bod
Of course it was the same leg. Just like everyone in the supermarket always drives their trolleys into it and not the other one....sigh.
Blessings,

Math,
Same leg? Well, looking on the bright side (of life ) it's perhaps better to have the dodgy knee leg out of commission rather than have two dodgy legs (???)
Jordan,
Hey, that's so cool that you are going to Toronto. Yes, that was my town for many years. And so, no worries. Even if my friend can't put you up we'll find someplace good for you and your friend to stay. Late summer in TO is very hot and humid. But it is quite an exciting city - lots to do and see. Anyhow, we can talk about this more as it gets closer to your travel time (almost a year away). But if you have any questions in the meantime, feel free to ask. Why did you choose TO?
