With my first chance in about 2 months of getting a real live female member of the homo sapiens race I naturally f**k it up. Is there something in my genes (that works on sooo many levels since that was what I was wearing) that makes me so unattractive?
I would be the first to admit (ok, the third) that I am not Mr Hunk 04, or even ever been Mr Hunk, in fact I am almost the contrapositive (look it up people) of Mr Hunk. But this girl wasn't exactly Miss Hunket either. She wouldn't be my first choice, but since I wouldn't be her first choice it would be ok. For the first and unfortunately final date we went to a rather inexpensive but nice Vietnamese restaurant I know near Erindale. Me being the gentle man I am promised (and fur-filed) to pay for the meal and possibly the wine (she ended up paying for the wine since she insisted in paying for something). The meal and conversation (which for some unknown reason was mostly to do with the possibilities of quantum physics (yes I go out with geeks, I am one after all, we have to persevere the species)) was pretty good especially the bit about the names of some of the particles (would you believe how much joke factor you can get out of a Quam?) . Anyway it all went well and the average 1st date goodbyes insured (you know what I mean) and low and behold on Saturday its "I am sorry about this but its now a bit of a competition between you and this other guy". Assuming as I am that she was either 1 going out with him already or 2 met him later on that night (since this was about 10:00 the next day this seemed very unlikely. So of course being the complete ass I am I said "Well he can have you." I am not sure what she thought of that as she hung up and hasn't rung me since (this is now a week past). I have decided to tell this tale for one reason, I have now thought about what she said and the way she said it and have a unnerving feeling that never had a second guy and was using this sentence to test me out (or some such thing) and I have now made my chances getting laid any time in the next century far more remote.
Once again my sad sad tale of complete and utter buggerupership.
Enjoy the Horn of Africa

Well, did you have fun on the outing? Quite honestly, if she was 'testing you' with that, then she's weird and wants a guy who'll *eeeeew* lick her feet. The only real test is crying; and, if she didn't do that, you're safe.

And I'll certainly approve of you finding a physics geek. They tend to come in two extremes: really cool people or really not cool.
But I don't think much of her whether she was trying to test you or just trying to pick up two guys at once.

I have no idea, as I have already stated I have neither seen or heard from her since, time already to be out there again on the all wondrous market, next date anticipated at about June, maybe july

Don't date; it's pointless. If you're lucky, you get decent conversation. I can't see it as anything but a royal waste of time. Maybe I say that because I'm sixteen and no relationship I'm in has any possibility of ever becoming serious, though...

I had one relationship that became semi serrious and then I dumped her for moral reasons.

I can't stand dating either. It can be fun, but I don't think I really need anything serious, so it's a waste of time.

Where I am dating is a lost art. It's either major long-term relationships, or make out with someone while drunk. Not really anything in between

What exactly is the point of 'serious' dating unless you're at a point where you're willing to marry or live with the person?

I forgot the last option, the one that I and most of my friends tend to end up with- no romantic/sexual contact with the opposite sex at all
And these serious relationships tend to end up "living" together, or at least one of them essentially takes up residence in the other's dorm room. Particularaly if only one of the members of said couple has a single.

yeah but I can't not have a serious relationship, its impossible for me to go on a one night stand for example because I just can't treat a woman that way and I don't particularly want to be treated that way myself. Sure it makes sense for people who don't want to be tied down or are playing the field, but I know my looks and how much of a chance I am going to find a girl who even wants to be with me for more than 5 minutes is probably going to put up with me for a while so I suppose I have a kind of advantage in the fact I am much more likely to meat someone that going to be a likely for the whole marriage thing but it does mean I have a lot of lonely nights. So I suppose its a whole cold warm weather thing, like those who have warm wether like cold, and those who have cold like warm etc.

I'm perfectly happy with my life as it is, actually. At least you've got Ada.

As am I. Right now, a dog satisfies my needs for companionship.

That's what dogs are for. Much more understanding than the average person.
