I think that the song 'Six Months in a Leaky Boat' was banned by the BBC because they thought it was a criticism of the Falklands War.
It actually refers to the time taken to sail by ship to New Zealand.
You'd think that an organization with a reputation like the BBC would've been able to find that out!

I don't know if it was seen to critise the Falklands War, but it did come out at a bad time for England when many people had loved one fighting from 'Leaky Boats' and it was definately seen as unsympathic to those overseas at the time.
It was a good song that just happened to come out at a bad time for England.

I dunno somehow complete incompetence and lack of understanding of anything at all kinda gives me pride in the beeb and displays all thats best about major british institutions.
By the way I got you is one of my all time personal faves a great song to sing when drunk.

I'm trying to picture a bunch of drunks trying to get through all the verses of 'I got you' which I find hard remembering when sober....but I guess the chorus is excellent for the grey-cell challenged.

Very true but you see the point when drunk is not to remember words but to ensure there is lots of energy and volume
