Plans for Thanksgiving are coming together. I have the turkeys already. Around here, if you wait until the weekend before Thanksgiving, you can find lots of over 20 pound or 10-12 pound birds. But try to find anything in between. It's just not going to happen. This forces me to get them early. I have an 18 pound one for the oven and a 14 pound one for the smoker.

I also have all the ingredients for my baking. For the past several years I've made all of the traditional things using traditional recipes. This has started annoying me since I can't eat most of it. So this year the entire meal will be gluten free. Anyone who doesn't like it can go home and cook their own meal.

So let it be written. So let it be done.

smiley - rofl The guy who cut Elektra's hair yesterday said he was going to deep-fry his.

I worry...

I destroyed an entire apartment with a quart of hot Crisco. What could you do with 20 gallons of sizzling fat and a turkey on a stick? smiley - run

Deep fried turkey is mighty tasty. My sister's husband had a turkey fryer. He always used it outside. I'd be afraid to try it.

I thought it sounded good, but I've never had a chance to try it.

Do you know what it says about us that we could get an appetite discussing deep-fried turkey? <tongueinchee<>

You know what, Dmitri? There are times when I absolutely LOVE being a hillbilly. smiley - evilgrin Like at meal time.

Have you tried the GF Bisquick yet?

Yeah. It's wonderful stuff. smiley - smiley But after awhile, I seemed to be getting more stomach upsets, so I stopped using it for a bit.

I dunno if there's something in it that doesn't like me, or if it was something else. smiley - huh

I like it, too. What I've discovered is that even the GF grain products bother me if I have them too often. I need to put at least 3 days between servings and 4 days is better.

smiley - eureka That's it.

I know the celiac doctors don't believe in the 'allergy' people, but the allergy people are right. It goes in 3-day cycles.

This causes me to need more variety in my diet than Elektra is comfortable with. 'But you ate that yesterday,' she complains...

One thing that bothers me is that it's all so trial and error. We have to pretty much diagnose ourselves and then find out what works for us personally to relieve symptoms. The doctors just can't agree enough to give any proper guidance. *sighs*

I'm on a stir-fry kick. It's fast, easy and gets more vegetables into my diet.

smiley - laugh I will not try this, personally. For one thing, I live in an apartment.

For another, I set the apartment on fire last year - making chips.

I will leave this higher cuisine stuff to my elders and betters.
