Blackberry Cat told me that I should ask you about your views on whether sex is good or bad. She/he thought that you'd agree with me that sex is bad and should always be avoided.

Just to keep you hanging on, and to help shunt this into the recent conversations list (I'm such a nice guy...), let me assure you that RDO most certainly does think that, much to my disappointment. I think he mentioned it at some point in the "Mal's Question" thread, maybe, in case he still doesn't answer.

Thanks. He doesn't seem to have posted much recently; maybe he just hasn't seen it.
I'll have to try to get him to sigh up, then. It looks silly that I only have on member.

Why disappointment?

Well, disappointment because I disagree, of course. But also because he's being uncharacteristically closeminded about it.
Yeah, if you do get to him, find out why he's not on so much.

Hello, Lemon Blossom and Mal:
"Blackberry Cat told me that I should ask you about your views on whether sex is good or bad. She/he thought that you'd agree with me that sex is bad and should always be avoided."
Generally I'd agree with you, but my reasons differ depending on when you ask me.
Sometimes I'd say that it is more of a personal choice--I just don't really like being around people and something that makes one dependent on others (if sex is enjoyable, one will want to be around someone to engage in it with)
Sometimes I'd argue that it is part of the universal Conspiracy; that it is wrong because our bodies want us to do it.
Sometimes I'd say that it is wrong because it is a distraction from the goal of transcending the Conspiracy.
"Well, disappointment because I disagree, of course. But also because he's being uncharacteristically closeminded about it.

I don't see how I am being closeminded about it.
I wasn't on because this was a really buisy week for me in school. AP Chemistry test. AP Calculus BC test. Physics test. AP English Essay and outlines. And registration for next year's classes. Because I applied for an internship at the local NASA center, I had to write several essays and fill out a lot of extra forms for that. Also, I had to worry about gertting signed up for the concurrent enrollment math class I'm taking next year. And then there was the "It's Academic" tournament I had all day on Saturday (We won.).
Sorry.

RDO
Anything you indulge in is a reliance upon others. You need food; for that you rely on others. Without conversation you would go mad; for that you rely on others. A place to live, you also need, as well as something to do with your life. Sex, on the other hand, you do *not* need; you can merely enjoy it occasionally.
(Oh, I meant to tell you: I've just had a short story published in a collection! Wahey!)
Good luck with the exams and internship!

I'll have to ask you more about the Conspiracy later. It sounds like an interesting idea--did you come up with it yourself?
Odd coincidence. Is it's Academic some sort of quizbowl thing? I'm on my high school's quizbowl team. Congratulations.
And, Mal What's the title of the collection? Anything I'd likely find in the US--I'd be interested to see what sort of things you write about.

It's made by a company my stepdad part-runs, so I should imagine it'll have a very small run and probably not be widely available, least of all outside the UK. I'm not sure of the title, or even if it's been printed yet - I'll have to get back to you on that.
...Come to think of it, I really should have made more of an effort to find out these things!
If RDO's still busy, you might find some details about the Conspiracy in Agnostic Primist's personal space, in my friends list.

If by quizbowl you mean high-school trivia tournament, yes.
Technically, it's the name of a high-school team trivia gameshow in my area. Many of the high schools, including mine have teams that participate and also run tournaments for the other high school teams.
It's Academic has a special format, three competative and two non-competative rounds.
But some of the school-run tournaments follow the NAQT format and sometimes the NAQT rules as well (I assume you know what that means; let me know if I'm wrong and I'll explain.).
