Oberst Von Kow & Le Fusilier Solitaire.
Loup Dargent Posted Aug 26, 2002
your mad highness:
hasn't been too bad... for the moment... then again i don't live in london anymore... [i have been an essex frenchman for one year and half now... hehe]
herr von kow:
my historical funny cakes [allegedly responsible for the french revolution...] have also been banned in the LD's library... hehe... the note at the end of the message telling me that my quotes were not accepted read: "i am aware of what your funny cakes are made with... there is no way i will let it pass..." there was a "lmao" at the end but still twas a bit harsh... hehe...
they do get wise [eventually] on what we are EXACTLY saying... lol... the fun bit is to find new ways...
sometimes we win some, sometimes we lose some... it's like a game really and for an old [err... not THAT old!!!!!] rebel like me the challenge can be enjoyable...
the frustrating bit is when the refusal of a quote happens just before the deadlines and there is no time to submit a new one... you know that the opponent is getting away with it and their words will stay unchallenged until the following morning [even worse when it's before a weekend..].... aaaaaaaargh... lol....
anyway that was my addition to herr von kow's informative comments on experiencing censorship on LD...
talk later...

Yorkshire's fine thanx, believe me nothing stands for long around here
O Canada O Canada
I've no idea what you mean by this
Do you
Moderation is fine in moderation???
kow Posted Aug 26, 2002
I think they're too tough in ld now, can't say anything
It all started going downhill when it got the red pages, and downhill it keeps going
As they read every message going in and those they are not allowing in
I guess they could pretty much, write our replies for us
It would be better if they just removed the bits of your post that was likely to break their rules, whatever they are
As for having the whole w/end*laugh out loud*
Revenge is sometimes a dish best served cold
as always
Moderation is fine in moderation???
Loup Dargent Posted Aug 26, 2002
yep... sweet revenge... hehe...
i do understand what you mean... it just that sometimes some comments if left unchallenged might give the false impression than everyone agrees whith them and on certain issues it is important that the peeps who are just flicking through the sections [and usually only read the last quotes - the first available ones when they click on the rooms...] do not get the wrong impression...
if it was a joke and we are on the receiving end, fair enough we can live with that...
but a comment that might push away decent people and stop them being involved because they think we are a bunch of bigots then it's a big problem... that's what i meant by being frustrating to see a quote challenging these comments being refused just before the deadlines...
the problem doesn't exist so much tho' as there are always some kind of replies now anyway...
i think i was remeniscing earlier events... [the "good old days"?!...]
i do think that your suggestion is right... if LD was removing the offending part instead of refusing the whole quote that would help a lot...
sometimes all i got as an explanation is: "not suitable"... err... which part of the quote is not suitable?!... if i guess wrong i'm bound to have the following quote refused too...
anyway that's all from this corner... hehe...
talk later....
Moderation is fine in moderation???
kow Posted Aug 27, 2002
I get that too 'not suitable', what the hell is that all about
...and if you ask the mod, you never get a reply, or maybe that's just me
I agree to a certain extent about not been able to reply, but most peeps post when the mod's not there anyway...
If people get the wrong impression, then they get the wrong impression, nothing anyone can do to change that, look how romani took to me straight away
What does your name mean and where did it come from, cos it used to be different, or was that banned in chat
Moderation is fine in moderation???
Loup Dargent Posted Aug 27, 2002
ok... this time i hope i won't click something else before i send the message... [funny enough it was "house rules"... someone trying to tell me something?!... lol]
yep i used to be MAN-IN-DARK in chat but changed to loup.dargent as Loup d'Argent is also a character in a story that i might finish one day...
then after being in the library for a while i switched to loup.dargent1 as chat people don't always understand that when we are in the library it's not always easy to reply straight away to private messages... [that's one of the reasons anyway...]
had more details in vanished message... will tell more eventually... no sinister secret there really...
as for the "not suitable" so typical of LD... Nope you're not the only one... my reply to the quote in animals about dogs not embarrassed to show their affection in public was seen as "not suitable", the only clue to what i meant was when i said that it was very embarrassing at times... hehe... had to submit another one... very lame in comparison and certainly not so funny...
to a point it was a silly censorship act as after all it was about animals and very natural...
does it mean that there are subjects that can't be discussed in LD?!... i mean what if we want to discuss teenage pregnancies?!... surely there are things that would need to be mentioned... if not there would be no point as it would be too vague...
LD's idea of what's is or not suitable can be very strange...
and of course the "classic" one was when some peeps complained because we were making fun of hitler and we had to stop for a while talking about that part of history...
but at the same time twas ok to make jokes about god...
weird kind of logic there... lol...

Having read your deluge of data upon LD moderation I heartily agree with your insights into the warped sensibilities of the moderator.
Along with the esoteric 'not suitable, explanation will not follow' I have also been struck with the truly bizarre 'this is too long for the library' which may be construed as 'bloody annoying.'
Too long to be in a library!
Who are these people?
If it is any consolation to you both, were it down to LD the such sterling literature as War & Peace would never have seen the light of day due to these maximum load restrictions.
Secondary to Loup's observation that Hitler is not an acceptable forum for discussion, I also notice that derisory commentary regarding the Final Fantasy series of computer games is also considered bad form with the majority of users, whereas all statements to the effect of 'I rly luv u babes xxxxx M avn awnk bout u' are deemed perfectly reasonable and are indeed the basis of an entire culture.
So, to conclude; is anyone up for a glorious return of the Fourth Reich?
And can I be responsible for the burning of unsuitable literature.
And is it time for my special medication yet?

Loup Dargent Posted Aug 27, 2002
hehe...
EXTRA.... EXTRA....
a peep put a quote about dogs showing affection in public in more graphic terms that the one i got refused and it was accepted.... lmhao...
definitely can't understand the ever changing rules in LD... lol...
now i need my medication too...

Yes, I noticed that one Loup.
Now I do not want to come over all naturalist here; especially if it leads to their fertilisation; but any natural history documentary worth its salt will unfailingly depict the subject in question making 'the beast with two backs' for the entertainment of the folks back at home.
Or even four backs in the case of that episode with the Bactrian camel.
My point being.... well to be perfectly honest I have no point, but I fail to see why this manner of ungentlemanly behavior is forced down my throat whenever I tune in to Discovery Animal Planet.
After all, you never read about Squirrel Nutkin getting up to such iniquitous conduct.
I feel a corrective thrashing with the umbrella coming on....
Damn it! My medication! With haste!

Too long
Now that must be damn annoying, after spending an hour submitting another tome in the adventures of the Mad King
Luckily, as I find it hard to construct anything longer than 3 paragraphs long, I haven't had that problem
Well that's my three paragraphs...

Loup Dargent Posted Aug 27, 2002
like i would know about writing lengthy quotes me?!... hehe...
i had one answer once: "wrong room"... hehe... twas about food i think...
well close enough... another quote that disappeared in LD's limbo-land...
oh well at least the poney is still around... hehe...
talk later...

Mein Kapitan,
Writing a message longer than three paragraphs is so simple as to be beneath explanation.
Simply stare at your screen in deep cosmic thought until such time as your eyeballs have fallen into your lap.
Then start taking it out on your keyboard.
It works for me about nine times out of ten.
The real secret is to refrain from writing more verbiage than the average slack attentioned Godless heathen is able to consume within a single seating.
This works for me about one time out of ten.
The avoidance of CAPITAL LETTERS is also to be recommended as this always comes across as being a trifle annoying.
I believe that we are both well aquainted with one such individual who tortures the English language in this manner.
Well, I ought to stop there before I render myself even more unbearable than is customary upon such occasions.

You Sir?
Lengthy quotations?
More inspired reading and words of wisdow than it will ever be possibly to suitably reply to.
Has our benevolent moderator dismissed any more of your learned script on the grounds of 'Sod off Loup, you have had me reading this stuff all day and I want to go to bed.'?
I fear that I have been unable to keep abreast with this weeks political discussions owing to an outbreak of night duty.
Any particularly worthy recommendations?
Apart from your own, of course?
And has anyone seen my proposed smiley lurking the conversation halls?
Lock up your ponies, the molluscan menace is poised to strike.

hi your mad highness....
i'm afraid this week hasn't been a brilliant one for me either when it comes to quotes... or if i wrote something there worth reading i actually can't remember.... hehe...
i got a vague recollection of a fun debate about america and somehow europe came into it...
yep now i remember... hehe... during that discussion [all in good fun of course] one peep called me tony blair... lmho...
they didn't really mean any disrespect to me so it was ok after all....
in here things have been a bit more productive tho' and peeps from LD are starting to be noticed a bit more...
manda [romani.angel's ACE... that does sound rude i know... lol] and i have started a homepage for "The Friends Of LeisureDistrict..." hopefully peeps who just arrive will be able not only to receive the advice they need but more important of all they won't be lonely for long....
it's not finished yet but you can have a look and leave a "hello" message...
the link is U201567 that should take you there in a flash...
i've done some work on my space too... but forgot the rule about limited amount of space possible in one page when using the digibox and of course i didn't update regularly the work i was doing ... hehe... suffices to say that it was a good typing exercise at least but i will have to start again on that particular page with all the info in my head ...
never mind... practice makes perfect so they sat...
well i'll see you soon your highness as now i'm on my way to "walk the kids" for a while....
talk later...
all the best...
loup
[no today... hehe... i made a request for a smiley at last... THE campaign has officially started...]
