I haven't had a chance to be much on the Net last night and i won't be able to be around much until tomorrow, but i will follow this case very closely...

As i have been aware of a certain researcher's obsession when it comes to ex-LDers for quite a while now, i'm not that surprised about their chosen course of action... What is interesting though is the length they are going to try to justify it...

The logic behind their justification would be fine if there were not so many questions that could be raised about the _real_ reason behind such action... I have my doubts about it and don't believe one iota that Telewest losing money [in theory] is concerning them that much...

Telewest is aware of the email thingy anyway [that can't be the first time that some people bitter about some of us has told them methinks somehow]... They just can't do a thing about it... But, at the same time, they must be aware as well that many of the people who come here through the digibox would have switched to another cable/satellite TV provider if it hadn't be for the email loophole...

One positive thing about it is that it might give Telewest the kick in the backside they need to go ahead with their NetTV.. after all, where there is money to make etc... well, who knows...

I will have another look at what the Sat9 and her sidekick [i didn't realise that blocking the access to one community of users was part of ACE/GURU's duties though...] are saying and if i see anything remotely touching the borderline of defamation/slender/libel will yikes without any second thought...

I will of course look into complaining about the irresponsable action taken by one ACE/GURU in this issue as his priorities seem to be wrong at the moment... He should know better than create a situation which could cause more un-needed frictions on the site...

What i have just typed is based on what i've read last night after receiving your message... obviously i'm not up to date... so i will definitely have another look and see if i'm on the right track...

I yikesed Aka's entry ages ago now and it still hasn't been hidden [even temporaly]... No emails from the Mods telling me if it has been failed or not though...

I didn't realise Aka was one of those legendary underlines...

Still a strange way of making the site sticky though... And it's not like it was the first time he's taken such an open anti-Lders stand... So he knows that it's a potential flame war in the making when posting or/and supporting anything that create divisions...

Hmmmmph.... I need to cool down again...

Anyway talk soon... I won't be around tonight unfortunately... Hopefully no-one is going to bite on their bait like last time [conveniently used as "proof" that Saturnine was right about the ex-LDers...]... At least the thread is not as public as the infamous <./>AskH2G2</.> one last year...

hi Loup, not a problem i remembered the last time this kicked off as well, i actually thought Sat9 had stopped using this site as she had been quiet for so long

anyway, as you are probably aware, the H2G2 editors have sent an email to all volunteers showing concern over the 1 or 2 users who were starting the help group pages. the users incidentally that sprung Sat9 and aka into such a controversial stance. you may have also received Mort's email showing concern over the low morale of the site as late. both emails of which aka would also have got, so in light of these i am refraining from commenting further in all threads involved regardless of what is said. it will be interesting to see how aka continues

your yikesing strategy is by far the best option open to us now

I can see how it was difficult to resist the temptation especially with such gems coming from Sat... I still think that she confuses education with intelligence, and the way she acts at times does seem to confirm that... Unfortunately her hatred of the ex-LDers got the unconditional support from an Ace/Guru who should realise the possible repercussions for the Hootoo community of such behaviour... Having an opinion is one thing but posting inflamatory comments is not on... The way he is acting, i have the feeling that he won't take any notice of the emails anyway... Strategic yikesing is definitely the answer right now [especially as i have not the time to go through all their posts and show how the points they are making are not even accurate or/and up to date] but i found myself with a rather surprising reply from the Mods about two posts i yikesed yesterday: it seems that spamming and defamatory comments are not against the <./>HouseRules when it comes to the dynamic duo... and, interestingly enough, once again, they were not hidden after being yikesed... [ http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/F19585?thread=376224 I know i was a bit petty about the spamming thing but, the link had already been posted many times in the feedback thread so there was no point posting it again there... And, if one researcher can be done for spamming for two similar postings then posting a link far more than that must be spamming somehow... , as i said a bit petty but still...] At least more people are taking some notice of how dangerous Aka and sat's little campaign can become....
