Has anyone experienced problems with their Sky Q boxes being on permanent standby.

I don't have a Sky Q box myself, sorry - that is a strange problem you're having.
Have you tried turning it off at the plug socket? If it doesn't wake up from standby after that, I can't think what the problem would be... I see there is a Virtual Assistant on the Sky website http://www.sky.com/help/home/sky-tv/sky-tv-q who might be able to help you with troubleshooting

Thanks Sasha, I have completed the steps to unplug and plug my box again and still it is on standby. There are thousands who have had similar problems. Now, I will be getting a new box and remote control. It was a struggle unplugging all the cables from the Sky Q box was not helped that I injured my right index finger, three days ago when I badly grazed it by closing the back garden door.
