Haylle (Nyssabird) ? mg to recovery Started conversation Dec 15, 2002
Well, so, yesterday I was running around like mad, getting kids to grandparents, getting grandma educated in Joseph's nebulizer, getting present for my daddy, etc. I was invited to my Dad's to help them celebrate his birthday (which entailed eating cake, and his being allowed to drink beer with *alcohol* in it..hey, you only turn 50 once). Securing his gift made me quite late - after 10 PM actually, but they were unperturbed, and ushered me in. Dad liked his present (a Putumayo CD [rock!] and an orange flowering cactus). OK, this is all standard stuff, but here's what blew me away. Melanie, my step-mother, at one point took my face in her hands and told me I was so pretty and was looking soooo good . Dad had only approving things to say to me all night long, and at one point in the kitchem told me how proud he was of me . I didn't know what to say to that, but Dad and I chatted about life, the universe, and everything until past 3 in the morning! I don't know if he and Mel suddenly realized life is short or what, but quite unconsciously I'm sure, they both said things I had been waiting 10 or more years to hear. They don't think I'm a f*ck up or inconsequential anymore I guess. In some ways, it makes me nervous, because I've grown accustomed to the emotional barrier I had put up between us, and the vague discussions. But Christ, I even mentioned to Dad that I'm moving to Oregon! And that I'm coming to the UK in January! And that I'm bi! I threw out all sorts of things at various points, and he had nothing but encouragement. It boggles my mind....

Nice one Nyssa! You must be !
I should think they've probably finally realised that for you to have gone through all the s**t you have, at such a young age & still be pretty together (hurting & screaming OK, but bloody hell who wouldn't?)
..... you must be a pretty special person!
So, an early Xmas present &
Can't be bad!!

sometimes we seem to travel thorugh "life", just doing the mundaine, and having the s**t kicked back at ourselves so many times, that when someone is genuinely* kind, nice or simular to us, that we can't just comprehend it. Especially if it is coming from those that have previously been kicking up the s**t, I know I have great difficulity with anything ressembling a kind thought, compliment or loving gesture, I guess I'm too used to being kicked down when I'm already at the bottom Well done, sounds like they have finally grasped who you are, as a person should make Christmas go even better : And don't forget you still ahve London in January still to look foward too and I can give you a RL and
