hello pc thanks for your reply. bit confusing finding my way arround here. any tips/pointers would be apprecaited. Where to find you answer to this would be nice! lol! guess i will have to work that one out myself!

And welcome to h2g2...it's a big place and different to everywhere else I've ever visited.

The easiest way to keep track of things is to use your "my space" there you'll find a list of all the conversations you're subscribed to, and conversations that people have started on your space (like you've done on mine) and and entries you've created.

I've noticed a lot of telewest/digibox users create a bunch of links on their space to help them find their way around...I'm guessing thats because you can't just click on the usual shortcuts

The busiest conversations happen at <./>Askh2g2</.> which is were most people who are looking to chat hang around (and where the h2g2 addicts all end up).

I see you've posted something on your personal space...which means that pretty soon an ACE will be along to say hello, ACEs are volunteers who visit all the new researchers to help them find their way around.

Another busy place is PeerReview where people submit entries that they think are suitable for the edited guide (a kind of online encyclopedia and the core of the site)...if you are thinking of submitting anything its worth having a look around first to see what sort of entries get recieved well...we've had a couple of new people recently who just submitted about 10 different rants on similar subjects so the mood there is a bit agressive at the moment.

If you want to learn how to do smileys it's quite easy most are just a case of typing a word between so laugh between <> looks like . There is a full list of all the smileys at <./>Smiley</.>
