Rivkeh Yankee-Shoes... bashing about the BoE again

There's some funny Chinese and Japanese music videos out there. There's one called "YATTA!" that is circulating among my friends, that features an Asian boy band, in tighty whities with big fig leaves in the front, singing in Japanese and English. The refrain is "happy go lucky" and makes me laugh so hard I want to pee.

Going back to Chinese English Language Television (CCTV9), though, my Dad (still watching!) was intrigued to find that on their Sports Report programme, which covers all kinds of sport all over the world, they had a report on the International Bog Snorkelling Championships which were held last weekend in the Mid Wales town of Llanwrtyd Wells!

It reported that last year's champion retained his title, and my Dad particularly enjoyed their attempts to pronounce 'Llanwrtyd'!

For the record, 'Bog Snorkelling' involves people with a diving mask and a snorkel, propelling themselves along a channel specially cut into the nearby local bog. They are not permitted any 'artificial' aid for propulsion (I think even flippers are banned) and they must not raise their head out of the water at any time whilst competing. The 'course' is two lengths of the channel.

It's becoming incredibly popular, and the guy who started it (as a bit of a gimmick to attract more visitors to the town - which worked in bucketloads) deserves a real clap on the back for such a fabulously daft idea! People really do come from all over the place to compete.

Then, of course there was last weekend's 'Bognor Birdman' competition. The competitors dress in silly costumes and throw themselves off a seaside pier in an attempt to 'fly' the furthest distance before the inevitable mighty splash into the sea.

I love being a Brit sometimes! smiley - cool

Roll on Christmas - our first Christmas abroad. I'm dreaming of a proper white one given that we're in Alpine Austria.

Six days in Salzburg - if there's no snow, someone's gonna get sued!!!smiley - grr

Just thought I'd state my case.

Are you doing anything interesting this year?

Nothing terribly interesting... I'm working at a cd shop, so working on Christmas Eve.

Lately I've been trying to scrape stuff together, as far as finances go. Having a lot of fun though. got my eyebrow pierced... wrote all about it on my website (go sign my guestbook! www.angelfire.com/poetry/myowngenre/index.html ). Gone on some fun little capers, and generally trying to keep warm as we've already had some snow here! Brr.

I keep on checking forecasts when I can, but it doesn't look like there's been much snow anywhere near Salzburg (come on! Get to it!!).

Given that we haven't even had our usual pre-Christmas cold snap, never mind snow, I'm beginning to wonder if we've missed winter completely and are now looking at an early spring!smiley - sadfacesmiley - blue

It's not fun when the weather's wrong for the time of year. There are all sorts of funny bugs going around and I got one last week - three days off work feeling lousy smiley - yuk. I'm not really much better now either - some sort of energy sapping thing. It'd better be gone before Christmas.

Look after that eyebrow! I'd be too chicken to get mine done - I still have bad memories of the time I had my ears pierced. Much ouching there I fear (but I was only about 12 at the time!).
