A Conversation for Talking Point: What makes you cry?
Conflict & empathy

I find tears spring to my eyes sometimes if I am upset in a confrontational situation with someone, which is annoying as it makes me feel I look weak and it affects my voice. Although occasionally I think it is good as it may show how much you care about the issue.
I also get tears in sympathy with other people who are obviously very upset which is OK if it is someone I am close to, but not so good if I am just a passing aquaintance, or dealing with a patient at work. Then it feels a bit OTT.
