A Conversation for THREE WAYS FOR OPENING JARS
Opening Jars

I was recently taught a fourth way of opening jars by a large burly friend (who got it from his grandmother) - The Little Frail Lady Method. I now swear by it.
Place jar on counter-top or table. Steady it by clamping it to the front of your body with one hand. Hold a long-handled, flat-tipped implement (blunt knife, spoon handle) with tip pointing upwards in the other hand. Wedge the flat tip under the lip of the jar-lid. Rock the implement in your hand back and forth several times (towards and away from the jar). You will hear a slight hiss as the pressure is let out. No force or brute strength is needed - only a firm and steady rocking motion with one hand.
