Yes, it's my favorite night of the year again.

Most of our long weekend plans were shot, for reasons I won't get into on here.

But I've spent the last three hours sat on the front porch, passing out candy to neighborhood kids. It's the one night of the year that not only do the little kids not get on my nerves, but I actually quite enjoy them.

Meanwhile, we've started preparing ourselves for the party at our friends' bar later tonight, so every flat surface is covered in wigs, spirit gum, black face paint and rubber chickens.

I've got an electroshock wig and a straitjacket. Can't wait for the first smart aleck to ask me why I didn't wear a costime this year.

How did the party go?

I'm not sold on the trick-or-treat bit of Halloween, which we don't do here, but a Halloween party appeals rather a lot.

Wasn't a very big party, it being a Monday night, it seemed to be mostly the Monday night regulars. Which was fine. K had fun playing music, and his costume turned out great. Several people expressed much amusement at my straitjacket. A good time was had.

Were you able to get those things at the costume shop?

Yep. It's a HUGE place called Fantasy Headquarters and they have all kinds of costumes, wigs, wardrobe, makeup, etc. We got all of K's costume there too, except the red dress shirt and black blazer, which we picked up at a nearby thrift store.

I love the idea of the electroshock wig. I kind of want a straightjacket too.

I can't imagine what an electroshock wig is. Not used to doing fancy dress parties.

It's basically got the hair crimped in such a style as to stick straight up and look very frazzled. Not all that much unlike my normal hair, really, but much more of it.
