I hope the service went well for those who were there, and that you didn't let it dominate your thoughts to the exclusion of all else. These things never quite pass off as you'd expect, I find, either in themselves or in how one responds to them.
Now, how is K's job shaping up? Too early to tell I expect, but there might be a few clues...

My dad said the service was nice, an impromptu eulogy was what he called it. I'm actually doing pretty good overall now. Haven't felt mopey or weepy for a few days (unless you count sulking and moaning because the a/c still isn't working properly and it's hot as hell out).
K's first day seemed to go well. It took him only an hour to drive each way. They bought him lunch and the person he'll be reporting to seems pretty nice. K says there is a LOT to learn, but that's the same everywhere. Even if you know the basic job, every company seems to use different software and to have different priorities in terms of handling stuff. Hopefully it works out well. And while they don't pay as much as he'd hoped for, it's a bit more than the other place and this place pays cash bonuses each year as opposed to fobbing off a gift card for a large retail chain we prefer not to patronize.

That all sounds very good (especially the bit about lunch).
I was going to say something remarkably adult and intelligent and insightful, but I'm a bit tired so it's slipped my mind. Anyway. I'm glad you've come through the worst of it.
