I haven't posted an in-depth journal in some time, and I also realize I haven't been keeping up with all my convos- though I have been *reading* everything posted, I don't always reply on a timely basis. Apologies!
Just in case anyone was wondering what I've been up to...
Work has been busy-ish but not out of control. But I do get a bit less down time at work some days.
My grandmother bequeathed me some money (not a ton, but not an insignificant amount, either) and as a result, K and I have been more or less seriously looking for homes- single-family houses, two-flats, and condos- for purchase.
The kitten we "adopted" in April has gone to live with some friends of mine, and all three of them are very happy. Meanwhile, a week ago, we brought home another, older kitty and we're trying this out. If it works, I'll be uploading photos and more info will be forthcoming.
More potential stuff on the horizon, but I'll share details as they become available.
I had more stuff I wanted to post but I forgot what it was... so I may be back later with more nonsense.

ismarah - fuelled by M&Ms Posted Jul 2, 2009
Oooooohhhhh housey things! I'm so jealous - I love looking at houses.
Keep sneaking onto remax to look at our immediate area here, just to see what is out there... this of course makes OH slightly edgy.

Me, I'm just curious. My sister says so - usually with a raised eyebrow and a certain tone of voice...
Pc - I haven't been here much lately either. There's no exciting reason for it, alas.

I lurk them online, too, and when K and I take our walks I admire lots of nice ones in the neighborhood (though most of those do NOT have "for sale" signs in front of them ). I've spoken with a realtor who's been sending me links to stuff in her system so I can give her an idea what we have in mind. Meanwhile I've got a lender working on pre-approval for a mortgage, so we can see how much they'll lend us and what the interest rate and monthly payments are likely to be. This way I'll know if it'd be better to wait a bit longer till we've saved more money, or move now while prices are still lower and there is a nice tax credit available.
Still can't remember what else it was I wanted to post about...
Today's my Friday- three day weekend!

Yep, we have tomorrow off since the holiday falls on Saturday this year. As of right now, we've no particular plans for the holiday, but we may go bookshelf-shopping tomorrow. Gorgeous weather here, too. Not as warm or as humid as usual.

My younger boys are mad interested in Chicago now, especially since they saw a picture of Sue the T-Rex in the Field Museum. When I told them I was there one afternoon a few years ago, they started yelling at me to bring them to Chicago...

I haven't been back to the Field since we went with you, Woodpigeon. That was a fun outing!

Lady Pennywhistle - Back with a vengeance! [for a certain, limited value of Vengeance; actual amounts of Vengeance may vary] Posted Jul 3, 2009
Back when I was still waiting for answers from the universities I applied to, I enjoyed going on Craigslist and looking at flats for rent. Mainly in NYC, because that's where I wanted the most to go. Frightfully expensive, of course, but it was kinda fun, looking at apartment pictures, and at the Google street-view of the area, and at subway routs, and hoping and imagining.
I've managed to keep myself from doing that again, so far, even though I now kinda have my eyes on NYU again.

Nothing against my family, but I can't wait to get a place of my own again, too! Somewhere with things in walking distance.
If I'm going to do my last required internship in Berlin, which is looking likely (hopefully, please ) I plan to hit the interesting museums and flea markets quite heavily.
Key: Complain about this post
