I expect it will be a very strange birthday. At least your father's there for it. A present in itself, surely.

I tend to celebrate the last day of being a particular age rather than the first day of an awful new number. It provides the two-fold benefit of celebrating and drowning your sorrows all at once.
I'm glad the service was nice.

K offered to take me for birthday brunch, but he forgot how insanely crowded places will be for Mother's Day. .
Tired this morning- a bit too much , but I'll recover. I sure do have a lot of cake left- they sent the whole thing home with me, as well as a ton of leftovers from yesterday's lunch. Oof.
Thanks for all the birthday wishes, too.

Good for you for losing it. It's a good thing to do.
In my lomited experience, there's an upside to funerals. At my parents', I got to meet all manner of people I'd not met in years. ( brother and sister included). And it's good they were there for your birthday. I guess.
Good luck tomorow. xxx

Yeah... it was nice, albeit under less than optimal circumstances, to see a few cousins, a great-uncle, and some old family friends I hadn't seen in 20 years or so.
Tomorrow, after the interment, we're all going to have lunch together at Flat Top. I got a coupon for a free birthday stir-fry.

And the worst bits are over now. The interment was nice and quiet- just my dad, my uncle, K and me (my sister and the kids had to fly back home so the kids could get back to school- too close to the end of the year). It was a beautiful day, sunny, not too warm or cool, and a bit breezy. Birds singing all around. The hardest part was when they put the little box in the hole.
So, this will be my last posting to this sad thread- from now on when I think of my gram, it will be to recall all of the fond memories and happy times she brought into my life.
