It looks like I may be able to add another name to my growing list of musicians I like but never thought I'd see. In the last couple of years I've managed to see Radio Birdman, The Avengers, Mission of Burma and Iggy & the Stooges.
This Saturday, Alex Chilton will appear at the Old Town School of Folk Music (with some chick I've never heard of). K has hinted that a couple of tickets to this gig might make a nice early Christmas gift for a certain well-behaved young lady. (Me, in case you were wondering...).

I didn’t know you were well behaved PC.

It's okay: some of my friends are planning eat my brain in order to experience the God Speed for themselves. I'm sure they'd let you have a bit.

The Specials might be worth seeing, depending on ticket prices.
God Speed Whoosiewhotsits, though, ain't my thang.
You've probably heard some Alex Chilton stuff, a_a_e. Big Star had a hit called "In The Street" that's pretty well known (Cheap Trick covered it for a TV comedy series here). The Box Tops did a song called "The Letter" you may recognize if you can find an mp3 somewhere- it was quite successful commercially. The Bangles did a cover of one of Alex Chilton's tunes (though not one of his better ones, and one of my least favorites) called "September Girls". One of my favorite tunes of his is "Hey Little Child".
Lots of bands have covered him, and one of my other favorite bands, the Replacments, have a song about him.

Yeah, I know "In The Street". Better than the everything ever done by The Streets combined. Flippin' brummies.

Skin crawling white uk rapper. Second in line to being my arch-nemesis after Calvin Harris gets transmissible spongiform encephalitis. Yes, I have started pretending Katie Melua doesn't exist.

I've heard *of* him but haven't listened. I'm not averse to rap, though- I'm a Public Enemy fan from way back in the day.

I'm a fan of Public Enemy too, I have all their albums on vinyl. I'm not a bad scratch DJ, myself, although I haven't done it for a while.
I've never seen a proper old school rapper live though I smoked illict herbage with Kool Herc once and one of my friends had an argument with the RZA about American football. I sh*t you not.

They played at a festival here this summer, but I didn't go, because there was only one other band that day worth seeing (Mission of Burma) and the tickets were ridiculous (not to mention July in Chicago isn't nice outdoor weather).
K brought home two tickets to Saturday's show yesterday. This auditorium actually has seats, and we're fifth row, center, so I may actually see something.

I always thought flava flav was a bit, I don't know, out of kilter with the rest of Public Enemy's whole Is meliue a word? Does it mean what I think it does? Anyway he is essentially a clown. I went to a goth club dressed as him on a dare. The irony.
Ooh, a sit down one.
I went to see some Taiko drumming once, at the city hall, and the performers were all fit Scottish women. There wasn't a burly japanese dude in sight. I didn't know whether to be happy or sad.

(Milieu, maybe?)
I think Flava Flav is fab. Have you ever seen the mockumentary "Fear Of A Black Hat"? It's sort of like Spinal Tap, with a rap band not unlike Public Enemy.
Honestly, seeing thin women perform Taiko would be like watching them sumo wrestle. It wouldn't be "right".

Milieu
Spinal Rap That sounds ace. Not seen it though. Weird, that just reminded me I have the sound track to CB4 on vinyl and that inturn reminded me that I have the sound track to Judgement Night as well. Have you seen that?
I love Best in Show. I just love it. Macadamia nuts.
By the way, I tried downloading the clips agian and the shorts and symphone mechanique say that they've been cancelled. Also the other two are both the outtakes of Rabbit Moon

OK, so that free program isn't going to work very well for my purposes. It would only allow a certain file size so it sounds like it split Rabbit's Moon up. No good. I certainly won't bother upgraded to the very pricey paid version. Because another file I uploaded for someone else took over four hours.
Do you have MSN messenger? Bel says file sharing on there usually works.
I might not get the DVDs done till after Christmas, what with concerts and weddings and holiday stuff.
