I had a nice turkey day.
Started the day relaxing, and watching remastered "Red Dwarf" episodes from the recently released "Bodysnatcher Collection". Then went to my grandma's house in the western suburbs. My uncle lives there as well, which is a good thing, as otherwise, my 95-year-old grandma would be in a nursing home or some place like that by now.
Anyway, I enjoyed my mashed potato and mashed sweet potato, green beans, dinner rolls tossed green salad, and deviled egg. I didn't even make a pig of myself, in spite of some badgering to "have some more". Just one little plop of everything. My dad's cousin, her ex-hubby and their daughter, who's around 30, has cerebral palsy, and is having yet another operation next week (a hysterectomy this time), were all there. It was a nice visit.
A great-uncle, my grandmother's brother-in-law, died recently, and my grandma gave me a huge carton of family photographs to take home, some of which are from the early 1920s. They're really quite interesting!
Later this afternoon, we're going to K's parents' house for some post-Thanksgiving leftovers. I think his grandparents may be there. Hopefully there's something left that I can eat. Sometimes they "forget" about me.
Hope everyone else had a nice Friday. Enjoy your weekend!

Old photos are fascinating things. The fashions, the hairstyles, the forced smiles - but mostly the fashions.

Happy turkey day. Over here, we were unaware that it was.
Today was a GOOD Children's Panel day. We did good. Definitely. More tomorrow on that.

Looking forward to hearing about the Panel.
Had a nice visit with K's family. His grandparents came, and it was wonderful seeing them. They has some spaghetti with plain marinara sauce, and lots of leftovers from their Turkey Day dinner. Then we plopped down in front of the fire and played cards till nearly midnight. K's grandparents *really* like to play cards. I lost big time, as per usual.
I went through the old photos again, and some of the fashions are really cool. I used to have a friend that collected old black and white photos, and she would love some of these... but I don't hear from her any more. Many of the photos were taken when my grandma and her siblings were little, at their home up in Wausau, Wisconsin. What's really is being able to recognize some of my relatives, because although they are or were all quite older when I knew them, they looked very much the same. And the resemblance between my great-grandmother and my niece is almost uncanny!

No, you misunderstand: he bought all the food I don't like to eat (you'd think that after 26 years he'd know), so I'm glad for the bread and carrots we have in the house. I don't really think the bunch of flowers he brought me would make for a good meal.

Oh, OK, I get it now. I thought you meant he'd gotten nothing but.
It does seem like he ought to know better by now what sort of stuff you don't like to eat. I agree that flowers don't taste very good. Not even well seasoned.

Yeah, I had a nice time- it's the one major "meal" holiday I rather like. Only we were sent home with leftovers both nights!! K's stuck eating all the turkey (or sharing with Herman), but I've had deviled eggs and sweet potato twice already today.

Apparently, hidden among the potatoes and green beans, was a particularly nasty virus. I wind up ill *every* time I go to a holiday gathering, I tell ya!
Started with bronchitis and an intermittent low-grade fever on Saturday, to a full-on cold or flu or whatever by yesterday afternoon. I slept poorly last night, on account of getting up every 30 minutes to hack up part of a lung and blow my nose. Fortunately, it's not aggravating my asthma (yet). I've been at work for an hour and a half, with eight more to go, and I'm already ready to pack it in and go back to bed.

Feeling vaguely better today. A bit more cranky, though.

My son's been ill for more than a week now, so I told him to go and see the doctor today. Apparently, there's a nasty virus making its round, called 'norovirus', and it does look a bit as if he caught ti. On the other hand, it's said to be very contagious, and we're all (still) fine.
I hope yours won't take as long.

So do I. I've had viruses that lingered for two or three weeks before, and it's exhausting and annoying.
Has your son been to the doctor already? I hope he's OK and feeling better again really soon. A week is a long time to be ill.
I'll have to look up that "norovirus". Just to be on the safe side. You know how it is, in an office environment these things spread like mad because by the time you feel lousy you've likely already been contagious for days.

Seems it's not dangerous for people of a healthy condition- just very exhausting.
I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.
