So, after a particularly grueling week, we went out for dinner at a local Grecian taverna, we were supposed to meet friends but I'm not feeling well (swollen neck glands and *very* tired) and they wanted to leave around 9:00 or so...
... so we went alone, I had skordalia (which is mushy enough to swallow with a sore throat). We then decided we might pop into the Planet of Sound, which is conveniently less than a block a way, and across the street from the lot we parked in.
And what fun stuff we found, all at bargain prices:
*Greatest hits CD from ? and the Mysterians for $10
*Gumby's Holiday Special on VHS for $3
*Phantom of the Opera (Lon Cheney) DVD for $5
*Invasion of the Bee Girls/ Incredible Two-Headed Transplant DVD for $7
*Kurt Vonnegut's "Jailbird", paperback, for 99 cents
and last, but not least, the coolest thing I've found in ages...
*"Husker Du?" board game, with all pieces intact, for $4
I feel much better now.

Yeah, it was fun. We watched "Incredible Two-Headed Transplant" this afternoon. Stin-KY!!!
We're at Elvis Costello in the alphabetical playlist... so, it's "This Year's Model" just now.
Waiting to find out if we're going to be trudging around town tonight or not... still dunno.
The "Husker Du?" board game is great. And it's pretty darn difficult, too! We'd each seen one in the past 10-15 years or so, but otherwise, it's been pretty much the Stuff Of Legend around here. Glad we stumbled across one!

Elvis Costello!!! YES!! Any Ian Dury? New boots & panties? Also, do you have any The Beat (UK lot, who i was official photograpeher for "and all they gave me was this lousy album, which i lost along the way!")
Do listen to Idy's music (link on the email i sent); it may not be your usual taste, but it really grows on you. Can you play minidiscs? I have lots i could record over to send you the Celtic stuff. Also check out Noir Desir, very French band...until the singer got done for murdering his girlfriend plus Nouvelle Vague, covers of classic 80's stuff by a variety of French girl singers, in English, but with lovely French accents. Could send all those on minidisc format.

"New Boots & Panties" was one of the ones K sold during an extended layoff, needed money for food and stuff, you know how that works.
Unfortunately, the ones that fetch the most money at resale are also the most difficult to replace... so I must second your request for a kindhearted donation of Ian Dury. Unless I can get myself his "Best Of", but it's rather pricey as well...
Elvis Costello we can manage, we have "My Aim is True", "Blood & Chocolate" and "This Year's Model".

I certainly *do* know how that works!
The Elvis Costello sounds wonderful!
I have finally weaned myself off Mescaleros only by driving everyone mad with Idy's CD!! I am totally evil, once i get something stuck in my head, i just play it repeatedly; i suppose it may be 'cos i occasionally actually get it together to play along & it needs to sink into the back of the brain & saturate it before it reaches the fingers?
Did K listen to this, 'cos the African rhythms might interest him as a percussionist.
or maybe I have just a light touch of Obsessive Compulsive stuff?
Ah, what the hell; don't care, it's my stereo & i have neighbours & Yoda doesn't apear to get bored easily!
Hey, i just watched An Entire Film! The Full Monty (in french, but i've seen it before in English)

I haven't seen that one, yet.
We didn't manage to listen to any of Idy's stuff yet, I'll check out the site some more when I get home tonight. My French isn't quite good enough to understand all the stuff on the site, and I can't afford to pay for any downloads right now- this is the week when the rent, car payment, car insurance, electric, phone and credit card bills all have to be paid, which doesn't always leave a lot for having fun with.

Oh, you must see it, it's hilarious!
As far as i know, you don't pay for downloads of Idy's music, only for the actual CD (with sleeve note translated by yours truly)<preens>
For once, all seems calm, & here; viking appears to have finally made his mind up & is being a little, helping me around the house (*without* me asking him!!!) & being very affectionate & we are doing lots & lots of talking. When he is like this, it's a joy to have him around; we both agree we are utterly fed up with fighting,we are miserable when we are apart & life is too short & why battle about stupid things with the person who means most to you?
Things could change of course, we are like a pair of ferrets in a nest, but we are both, it seems, bloody determined to try & make this work.

Sounds to me, from reading some newer postings, that there's been a change for the worse again? Care to share? Email is fine, though do understand that I'm at work for the next 8 1/2 hours and could well be unable to get back to you for a while.
If you do, please be specific about *exactly* what's happened and how you're feeling about it, so I can be 100% sure where you're at before I put my foot in it.
Meanwhile, here's some and (bisous) to tide you over.
