How deeply and anally competitive would you have to be to fake your blindness?
My favourite blind cricket quote: "India's blind cricket team has crossed into Pakistan"
Good for them. They were aiming for Bangladesh, of course.

The classification thing is a weird one though; I'm also 'B1', but I'm quite unusual as most B1s have some light and dark perception and shadows etc, whcih I don't so even within the catogrys B1 , B2, B3 and B4 (I think there are still only four), there can be a lot of variety within each catogry I must try and get to play again thi summer

It does bring to mind The Office and Gareth's comments on how to find out whether people are legitimately claiming their disability benefit.

There was stuff published a few years back about a practice among disabled athletes called 'boosting', which is deliberately injuring an already-dysfunctional part of your body immediately before competing. It works by inducing a performance-enhancing adrenalin rush, eg by inflicting puncture wounds on limb-stumps.
Cheating or not? You could hardly ban it and yet allow acupuncture.
But I have a nasty suspicion that the trauma would have to get progressively more extreme, event after event, for it to keep working. Talk about winning at any price.

Does drinking before a match count as performance enhancing ?
We had a player in our cricket team who'd regularly get quite stoned before a match... Don't think it aided his playing ability none though
Key: Complain about this post
