I needed to post something to push the long URL below down off my page, so I thought it ought to be something useful:
1) http://www.the-underdogs.org/ My word! There's a lotta good games here.
2) http://www.scunthorpe-united.premiumtv.co.uk/page/Welcome All that one really needs to know about football.
3) (URL deleted) A well-known internet shop named after a big river. Send me emails every now and then with the guaranteed knowledge that I will fall for it hook, line and sinker.
4) http://www.mousebreaker.com/ More games, I'm afraid (but what else is the Internet for?). Try Disc Dastardly and Stick Cricket - both excellent.
5) http://www.freewebs.com/ousgg/ My website, naturellement. Full of expertly produced (ha!) music and various teaching resources. Shortly to be updated, as soon as I get my PayPal account working properly

Something I've never worn but often thought I could do with when I was working in the taxi at this time of year.

Not without the engine on - I wouldn't leave the engine running when waiting. And come to think of it - one of the cabs I drove, the heater didn't work most of the time. Bloody Renaults.

Starting the engine up uses the equivalent amount of petrol as idling for 15 minutes.
How much money would that have saved you?

I'm not sure that I belive that I must admit - otherwise why are we advised to turn engines off at traffic lights and in traffic jams? And it would cost cabbies so much money turning engines on and off all day that *no-one* would ever turn them off at all. Sorry, but it does sound like cobblers...
But anyway, I always feel guilty about driving such a nasty polluting vehicle that keeping the engine off as much as possible makes me feel a bit better. It stops the car from polluting all the people walking out of the station.

Hats off to Mina!
One of my personal hates, speaking as someone spending the first year of his life *not* living in the front bedroom, is loud rattly diesels idling outside my window when I'm trying to get some sleep.

Ta very much. That worst thing about my new job (so far considering I haven't started it yet) is losing that smugness that comes with using public transport so much and actually being happy about being able to drive to work. I feel guilty about clogging up the roads and polluting the earth, yet am so looking forward to it!

I've just seen from your website that you teach science in Gloucester. Tell me, do you like Gloucester?

Well, I don't live there. I live in Ross-on-Wye, which is very nice.
What I see of Gloucester's OK, I guess. Apart from the rush-hour traffic, it's got good shopping, a cracking cathedral and lots of nice pubs.
