Lazy Sunny Afternoon
Ginger The Feisty Started conversation Jul 11, 1999
I have lived in this house in this village for 8 1/2 years and today for the first time I had a picnic by the side of the canal. We sat under a shady tree on a blanket and ate fresh baguette and brie and watched the barges and canal boats go by (I'm ignoring the motor launches belching out diesel fumes - call it artistic license) .
It was the only way to spend such a lazy sunny afternoon!

It was nice wasn't it, but aren't those boat owners nosy! The pineapple was nice and refreshing, and it was just what we needed after the exhausting Saturday!

If only the ground was a touch flatter so we didn't feel like we were about to slide into the water too! Some of the barge owners were nice but a lot of the boat owners treated us as if we were animals in the zoo!

Well, the element of fear as we slowly slid down the bank towards the water just made it all the more exciting! The brie and bread was an excellent idea too!

Well, the best thing on picnics is to keep it simple!
