Hello there smiley - biggrin

Welcome to H2G2 smiley - biggrin

My name's 3 Of 8, and I'll be your ACE (Assistant Community Editor)for the journey... If you look to the left you can see your most recent conversations, if you look to the right you can see your username in a lovely blue/green box.

You will notice that there are no exits, you are now asked to remain seated at your computer, and not log out for the remainder of the journey.

If you click on this smiley - silly little fellow, you will be magically transported to his home, to meet his friends, and find out more about them, and how to include them in your conversations. smiley - ok

If you have any questions (preferably really easy to answer ones smiley - winkeye), or you just want to natter please feel free to ask by hitting the reply button below... Or you can leave me a message on my space, by clicking my name at the top of this message, and then leaving me a message after my intro smiley - smiley

If you're keen to get started on writing an entry, firstly you should check whether or not someone has written one on the particular subject already. Type in the topic (or whatever) in the search bar at the top, if there's no entry for that topic... Go for it. If you need any help with how to go about writing an entry, let me know and I'll try my best to point you in the right direction.

Have fun and enjoy!™™
smiley - cheers

Thanks for your welcome, 3 of 8. Love the nomenclature! smiley - smiley

I'm actually rather worried about joining h2g2. I'm a busy guy and the last thing I need is yet another excuse to stay glued to my computer keyboard. But what the hell, I don't consider I had a mis-spent youth, so why not a mis-spent early-middle-age?

Talk to you again some time.

Sculucs.

Here - have a smiley - cupcake

Why helloooooooo™ again smiley - smiley

You're very welcome smiley - biggrin

Thank you for the smiley - cupcake I've never had anyone give me one of those before smiley - ok

That's what I like to see... Already you're trying to justify any time you may spend on H2G2! Oh yay, the markings of a future addictee I feel... The more the merrier in my opinion. I became an ACE (official meeter & greeter as you know), and now my other half thinks that I 'have an obligation' to log on as often as I can, and sits there mutely, no longer protesting that I'm smiley - geeky, and smiley - online2long It's fantastic! smiley - laugh

I see you've given yourself a name now smiley - smiley So much nicer than the impersonal researcher number you're designated when you join smiley - biggrin

Glad the (and I quote) 'nomenclature' amused you... It wasn't intentional... (Never come across the word before) *Checks dictionary* Ahhh, I see smiley - silly

Hope you have fun hitchhiking! smiley - smiley

smiley - cheers

Me again.

You see it's only day 2 and I've already sat down to work (yes I know - working on a Sunday smiley - sadfacesmiley - yawn) and thought - 'I know, why not have a quick check of h2g2 first? See what's hapnin.' And here I am, looking up smiley - silly, smiley - weird and smiley - monster smileys!

Sorry about the over-enthusiastic use of linguistic symbolage. I'll try not to throw in too much hyperverbosity in the future. Just send me a smiley - coffee if I do it again (I don't like coffee - it'll teach me a lesson.)

I notice you're from good old Birmingham. So am I!! (Well Solihull actually, but I have a soft spot for Brum). Unfortunately I now live in Surrey/Middlesex. My father still lives up there in Edgbaston.

Anyway, nuf chatter, I had better go for a browse to see what I can start writing about. I'm thinking I might do a piece about one of my musical 'heroes', Mr. Jeff Lynne of ELO fame. Not trendy I know, but I do like a huge range of styles from Jazz and Blues to Trance. ELO just happened to provide the backdrop to my childhood - and they were from Brum too!

I really, really must go. Glad you liked the smiley - cupcake. I would have sent you a smiley - cake or smiley - choc but wasn't sure exactly how to.

If it's not too early, have a smiley - ale.

Sculucs

Why hello there.

Good afternoon smiley - biggrin

That's how it starts... You think I'll just check out H2G2, then you have a look at <./>AskH2G2</.> Then you go and add your two cents worth to a conversation, and before you know, it seems you're continually logged on. smiley - online2long

You may throw as much hyperverbosity into your postings as you like.. I will just look up any words I don't understand (I do that a lot), and smile benignly, whilst looking vacant smiley - bigeyes (do that a lot too) and try and answer the postings regardless of how much sense I can make of it. smiley - silly

I see you've located the home of the SMILEY and have been introduced to all his friends smiley - smiley I should point out, that you will now be expected to put as many of those little fellows into your postings as you can. smiley - biggrin

I see you're cleverly trying to get into my good books, by saying that you were from Brum, although it was actually Solihull... We both know that people from Solihull would rather die than say they were Brummies smiley - winkeyesmiley - laugh

I'm pleased to see that you're eager to write an entry. If you want any help with anything, for example, using GuideML in an entry, or anything else. let me know, and I'll try my best to help you out. smiley - smiley

Have fun and enjoy!™™
smiley - cheers <-- Me/mine smiley - ale <--For you.

After reading this posting in preview, I realised it comes across as all brisk and business like... smiley - silly Not sure how that happened, but I've typed it now, so I'm going to send it smiley - ok

Why hello there.

Not only brisk and business-like but informative, encouraging, humourous, intelligent... It's all most welcome.

(Hopefully creeping still works in this place!)

Another smiley - ale?

Sculucs.

(Now a smiley for creep would be good.)

Why hello there.

smiley - alesmiley - alesmiley - ale all round then smiley - cheers

Oooh, I don't think I should have too many, I'll end up smiley - drunk

I don't know whether creeping works here universally, but it certainly works on me smiley - laugh And if the creeping fails there's always smiley - groveling to be done smiley - silly

I think you're right, a 'creep' Smiley would be a fantastic addition to the in house Smilies smiley - biggrin There's a page somewhere (don't have the link to it to hand), where you can put forward suggestions for new Smilies... Hmm.... I wonder, what would a 'creep'(ing) Smiley would look like<?>

BTW - I meant to say in my last posting, but being a little simple I forgot smiley - huh

Your subject for the article you want to write, is not relly boring.. You wouldn't believe the smiley - geeky topics that are included in the Guide. In my opinon ELO = Not too bad... Was brought up listening to them, owing to father with not much in the way of music tastes smiley - tongueout

Have fun and enjoy!
smiley - cheers
