My husband gave me a book... The Rebel Housewifes Rules. How to cope with being a housewife by doing what you want, not what you think others expect. I think you might enjoy it... I still wonder why he gave it to me - I have a job, I don't try to pretend to be SuperMom/Wife. (But of course I still think it's expected of me. And to have a career as well...)

excellent, Milla! Sounds like you live the Rule...>> of course I still think it's expected of me <<
That's the key, though, isn't it? I have to make myself see my actions and behaviour objectively... and be honest with myself about what I am expecting back for my effort.
My kid has as much as told me he'd rather eat crap with me smiling than some fancy meal I have slaved over (that they're guaranteed to loathe because it's not fried/icecream/msg loaded, etc) then serve with a glower....
You know, I really would not swap my life for any other if I had the choice - but it does not mean I find it easy to live it. But then I consciously chose this - eyes open and adult. It is when stuff gets dumped in your lap that you really don't see coming that is the problem... (in my case anyway) that throws me the absolute loop and gets me quivering in a corner behind the sofa.
