h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

Tell me about it!
I'd still love to be a film maker, it's in my blood I guess, but at the moment it seems that there are all these courses at University (media, Film, Whatever!) leading you to believe that are therefore jobs within that industry, no matter how small profile. The reality is that are very few jobs and even fewer for people who are artistic. I mean, I write and (try to) direct but it's not easy to get someone to just give £10,000 to make a 80 minute feature, it simply isn't going to happen. What I've done therefore, is taken myself out of the game for a while and goen to do something that stil involves writing (which is what I love most). I just want to have a job where I come home at the end of the day feeling good as opposed to wanting to tear someones head off and s*** down their necks! (forgive the imagery!)

Sorry It's taken me so long to reply, I was feeling ill after that rather graphic example of the working day.

Good idea, at least you aren't sitting there like your friend. We're told all the time that film and tv are a growing industry but we're never told that there are so few careers in it.

I want to be an author (when I grow up.. etc) but I get the feeling I'm going to be drawn towards design. Like you said 'It's in my blood'
My Dad works as a designer, like my Mum but he also works in film and fashion shoots. Our house is actually available to use for filming, odd parents..

Ahh right! Lucky sod, I'm sure you were very happy, it being your last working day and all.
